The Union Minister of Information and Technology, Mr. Rajeev Chandrashekhar told ANI that the Government of India had created a blueprint to ban online games.

  • Involves betting.
  • Harmful to the users
  • Involves a factor of addiction.

Further, he added that the government had prepared a framework regarding E-Sports for the first time, in that the government will not allow these three types of games. However, he didn’t mention any parameters that will be used to classify the games under the above three categories.

BGMI Ban in INDIA

Last year on 28 July 2022, BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), along with 59 other apps, was banned by the Government of India. The ban was a part of the larger crackdown on Chinese apps over security concerns. The return of the BGMI will give a major boost to the Indian Gaming Industry and attract new investment. The game was one of the most popular mobile games, with over 100 million registered users.
After a year-long ban, BGMI (or PUBG) makes a powerful return to India on 1 June 2023. The return of BGMI will greatly boost the Indian e-gaming industry, as it was one of the most popular mobile games before it was banned in India last year. The game is now available for download on Google Play and Apple App Store.
