In this article we will discuss one of the type of chart in tableau i.e. Waterfall Chart in Tableau with an example.

## Introduction

Tableau is a data visualization tool that allows drawing different charts and graphs using Show me with just simple drag and drop.

Tableau Show Me has 24 different charts.

Each chart in the tableau corresponds to a minimum number of dimensions, measures, bins, etc.

Tableau doesn’t have native support for waterfall charts, we have to need some workaround to obtain the waterfall chart.

## What is a Waterfall Chart?

• It is cumulative of measures over dimensions
• Helps to visualize the running sum or total of any measure against the dimension.
• The Waterfall Chart is a kind of Gantt Chart
• It represents the gradual transition of field values from start to end value by representing a running total with successive increments and decrements.
