The first NLU, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore was established in 1986, under the National Law School of India Act. There are 23 NLUs in India that offer five-year integrated, postgraduate and PhD courses in law.
Apart from offering the traditional degree programmes, National Law Universities of India offer both short term and long term online courses. The short-term online course offered by NLUs are certificate programmes that have a duration of 3 months. The NLUs also offer Master programmes of a maximum 2 years duration.
