The fee for different UG courses at The WB National University of Juridical Sciences ranges from Rs 10k to Rs 3.7Lakhs. It is very good college for BA LLB.It is one of the top 4 law colleges in India and the course structure is very good and relevant and which will help you to take up your law career in future .The placement opportunities are also very good which will offer almost 100 percent placements .

There are ample number of activities which one can take part in. Students can take part in internal university rounds for debating and mooting, and participate in various prestigious moot courts and debates based on the rank that they acquire. First year students are always encouraged to try their hand in different events. There are numerous other events which take place in the university where one can take part which include but are not limited to poster painting, music, art, dance and poetry slam. Academic writing is also encouraged and students can send their papers and articles to journals or present them at a paper presentation. If one becomes a member of the NUJS Law Review, JILS or any other academic organization, they will be specifically trained and mentored by seniors who are accomplished in the field of academic writing.

The West Bengal National University of Juridicial sciences is a very good college it is one among top 4 law colleges and the faculty is also very good and knowledgeable and many of the professors have deep  knowledge on the subjects they teach and they are as good as the faculty of law at University of Calcutta which is the public university at Kolkata . The infrastructure and faculty and course structure are very relevant and very good at West Bengal National University of Juridicial sciences and would suggest it as a top priority for your law course.

With respect to academics, NUJS teaches students the updated version of law in accordance to recent legal developments. There is no rigid 'syllabus' which is taught although a basic framework is followed. This means that though certain basic themes are mandatorily discussed in a subject, professors have the leeway to discuss issues beyond the framework. This allows for professors to discuss recent happenings in the field of law as and when they happen and keep the students up to date in terms of their learning. On the other hand, since CU has a specific syllabus which is seldom updated, the scope of learning in the classroom is very limited and students are often not kept abreast of the latest legal developments. Further NUJS uses a mix of the Socratic method and case analysis for teaching which allows students to develop practical problem solving skills in comparison to Faculty of Law, CU which majorly focuses on theoretical teaching from the bare act. Moreover, in NUJS the academic calendar is strictly followed while there is no certainty as to the length of semesters or the duration or timing of exams in Faculty of Law, CU.

The infrastructure in NUJS is far better than that in Faculty of Law, CU. The NUJS campus undergoes regular renovation and repairs annually. Further both the boys and girls hostel are located on campus making it possible for students to study till late night in the library or prepare for moots, debates, paper presentations and other events. There is a laundry in the NUJS campus, microwaves on each floor in the hostel and an air-conditioned mess. NUJS also has a tie-up with Sports Authority of India allowing students to use professional level sports equipment and receive brilliant training in the sport of their choice (subject to them qualifying in the tests set by SAI)

NLU Kolkata LLM programme has a seat intake of 102 students, including all specialisations. Candidates are offered seat in LLM based on their CLAT score. In 2024, CLAT cutoff for NUJS LLM was 620 indicating that aspirants must have a rank between 500-700 for a seat in NUJS LLM.

For BA LLB (Hons) and BSc LLB (Hons) cutoff 2025 at NLU Kolkata was 285 and 652, respectively, based on CLAT first round closing ranks. For NLU Jodhpur, the cutoff for BA LLB(Hons) was 357.
Based on these ranks, NLU Jodhpur is relatively easier for admissions when compared to NLU Kolkata. Students can also refer to the table below for other parameters to consider to know which NLU between the two would be the better choice.

The eligibility criteria for BA LLB (H) at NLU Kolkata requires the candidates to pass Class 12 with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for the reserved category).

Candidates are advised to give minimum one year to six months of preparation time to crack CLAT exam with high scores. CLAT is one of the most competitive law entrance exam, and candidates need to devote their time sufficiently to surpass cutoff marks. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 is expected to be held on December 7, 2025. For qualifying CLAT exam with maximum marks, candidates have to prepare exhaustively, but in a strategic manner.

NUJS admission to B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) is based on CLAT scores followed by the CLAT Counselling. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the CLAT Last Allotment list 2024. As per the NLU Kolkata  CLAT cutoff 2024, the round 5 closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) was 279 for the students belonging to the General AI category. Aspirants who have passed LLB/ five-year integrated LLB from a recognised university with an aggregate of 50% are eligible to apply for NUJS LLM course. Aspirants applying for LLM must have the documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission. The selection for LLM is based on CLAT score.

The life at.West Bengal National University of Juridicial Sciences ia very good.The faculty is above par for majority of the papers. As for the fees it isn't significantly higher than that of other top NLUs. Yes, the size of the campus is not much but being at the heart of Kolkata we have access to all sorts of entertainment and of course good food! In-campus infrastructure is significantly improving as I write this, with wifi throughout the campus and air-conditioning (except hostels), the Kolkata humidity won't trouble you much. Administration is also efficient and most of the communications happen through emails.

Above all West Bengal NUJS has a very good atmosphere, with consistent performance over the years and exceptional seniors it is the best in the law circuit. The brand value of WBNUJS is something to be proud of for every student studying there and I have no doubt that WBNUJS will keep on improving!
