Q:   Does TNDALU Chennai offer better placements than National Law School of India University, Bangalore?
A:

Compared to TNDALU, NLSIU has a far greater reputation both domestically and abroad. While TNDALU is not included in the majority of top law school rankings, it often ranks in the top three law schools in India. Graduates at NLSIU have access to more prestigious and well-paying job possibilities since the university draws a greater selection of elite legal firms and companies for campus placements. Opportunities in corporate law, litigation, and foreign law firms fall under this category. While TNDALU promises respectable placements with a number of reputable law firms, the recruiters' overall prestige and range may be lesser than that of NLSIU.

Compared to TNDALU's Law programme, NLSIU has a better established and longer history. More established ties with employers and a more robust alumni network are the results of this. When compared to TNDALU's Law programme, NLSIU's tuition is substantially more. Thus, for certain students, TNDALU is a more cost-effective choice. NLSIU is regarded as superior to TNDALU after all is said and done.

B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) - Batch of 2025

It is a peaceful law college.
Placements: I am from the 2020-2025 batch of the B.A. LL.B. course. Since this is a government law college, placements are not formally organised like private colleges, but some students get placed through personal efforts or faculty recommendations. Around 10-15% of students get placed in law firms or under senior advocates. The highest package offered is 3.5 LPA, and the lowest package is 1.2 LPA. The average package ranges between 2-2.5 LPA. Internships are more common than placements. Around 50-60% of students manage to do internships. Most common roles offered include legal assistant, junior advocate, and legal intern.
Infrastructure: Our college has good infrastructure and facilities. Classrooms are spacious and clean. The library is large with a good collection of law books and previous year question papers. Wi-Fi is available in certain areas, and basic computer access is provided. Though we do not have advanced labs like engineering colleges, and facilities are sufficient for legal studies. Hostel facilities are average. Rooms are decent, but can be improved. There are limited medical facilities, but first-aid and nearby clinics are accessible. Sports events are held occasionally, and students participate in outdoor games like cricket and volleyball.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. They explain concepts clearly and are always ready to support students both inside and outside the classroom. The teaching quality is very good, with a mix of theoretical and practical learning, like case studies and moot court sessions. The course curriculum is relevant and gives a solid foundation in law, but more internships or practical exposure could make students more industry-ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult but manageable with regular study. The pass percentage is generally high, especially for students who attend classes and participate actively. Our faculty members are friendly and supportive.
Other: I chose this course because of my deep interest in law and justice. The best part of the course is the mix of legal theory and practical learning through moot courts and discussions. The campus is beautiful with trees and gardens. The fee is affordable, with concessions based on caste and community. Classrooms and facilities are excellent. We also have some cultural events, NSS, and legal awareness programs. Scholarships are available, and the college is well-connected by public transport.

One of the best law colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Placements: Our placement record was the best of any law college in the state, with nearly 85% annual placement since its inception. To my knowledge, the average salary for a GLC graduate student was between 8 LPA and 10 LPA. Leading recruiting firms, such as Trilegal, Amarchand Mangaldas Khaitan & Co., AZB, SAM, Luthra, CAM, and other law firms, visited our campus to recruit. Our institute also offered excellent internship opportunities for students.
Infrastructure: At our university, the academic block was air-conditioned. Wi-Fi service was decent and free. Library was well-stocked and had books and materials for all law subjects. Access to a large number of online resources for legal research was available through the library's website. The mess was managed by students and provided good food at reasonable prices. The hostel rooms were adequate and equipped with the necessary furniture. We also had a spacious playground and 24-hour medical service. Overall, the infrastructure was good enough and acceptable.
Faculty: Professors were competent in most subjects, offered a thorough analysis of case law, and helped students understand the relevant legislation in the legal classes. The curriculum was relevant and prepared according to the requirements of the industry. While the semester pass rate was 98%, a comparative grading system was in place, making it difficult to exceed 80%. Students were prepared for internships and, in the future, for employment through various curricular and extracurricular activities.

When comparing just the tuition costs, NLSIU is noticeably more expensive than TNDALU. The cheaper hostel costs at TNDALU, however, somewhat make up for the disparity.
