On Highlights
Q:   Are LL.M placements at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College [TNDALU] good?
A:

The University offers five-year and three-year LLB courses along with two-year LLM courses. Additionally, TNDALU also offers PhD courses in the field of Law. There is no data available for LL.M. placements at TNDALU, but the available statistics show us that the average package offered to UG students at TNDALU is around Rs. 6.50 LPA and for PG students it is Rs. 8.50 LPA.

Q:   When can I apply for LLM at TNDALU Chennai?
A:

TNDALU Chennai LLM application form 2024 can be expected to be released soon. The univesity application portal generally opens in Jun/Jul and closed by Aug. As of now, the university has not released the admission schedule.

Q:   Does TNDALU Chennai offer better placements than National Law School of India University, Bangalore?
A:

Compared to TNDALU, NLSIU has a far greater reputation both domestically and abroad. While TNDALU is not included in the majority of top law school rankings, it often ranks in the top three law schools in India. Graduates at NLSIU have access to more prestigious and well-paying job possibilities since the university draws a greater selection of elite legal firms and companies for campus placements. Opportunities in corporate law, litigation, and foreign law firms fall under this category. While TNDALU promises respectable placements with a number of reputable law firms, the recruiters' overall prestige and range may be lesser than that of NLSIU.

Compared to TNDALU's Law programme, NLSIU has a better established and longer history. More established ties with employers and a more robust alumni network are the results of this. When compared to TNDALU's Law programme, NLSIU's tuition is substantially more. Thus, for certain students, TNDALU is a more cost-effective choice. NLSIU is regarded as superior to TNDALU after all is said and done.

Q:   Is pursuing LL.M at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College [TNDALU] expensive?
A:

No, pursuing an LL.M. at the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College (TNDALU) is not expensive. The annual fees for the LL.M. program at TNDALU is around INR 38,200 (approximately $470 USD) . This is considered affordable for a government law college in India.

It is a peaceful law college.
Placements: I am from the 2020-2025 batch of the B.A. LL.B. course. Since this is a government law college, placements are not formally organised like private colleges, but some students get placed through personal efforts or faculty recommendations. Around 10-15% of students get placed in law firms or under senior advocates. The highest package offered is 3.5 LPA, and the lowest package is 1.2 LPA. The average package ranges between 2-2.5 LPA. Internships are more common than placements. Around 50-60% of students manage to do internships. Most common roles offered include legal assistant, junior advocate, and legal intern.
Infrastructure: Our college has good infrastructure and facilities. Classrooms are spacious and clean. The library is large with a good collection of law books and previous year question papers. Wi-Fi is available in certain areas, and basic computer access is provided. Though we do not have advanced labs like engineering colleges, and facilities are sufficient for legal studies. Hostel facilities are average. Rooms are decent, but can be improved. There are limited medical facilities, but first-aid and nearby clinics are accessible. Sports events are held occasionally, and students participate in outdoor games like cricket and volleyball.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. They explain concepts clearly and are always ready to support students both inside and outside the classroom. The teaching quality is very good, with a mix of theoretical and practical learning, like case studies and moot court sessions. The course curriculum is relevant and gives a solid foundation in law, but more internships or practical exposure could make students more industry-ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult but manageable with regular study. The pass percentage is generally high, especially for students who attend classes and participate actively. Our faculty members are friendly and supportive.
Other: I chose this course because of my deep interest in law and justice. The best part of the course is the mix of legal theory and practical learning through moot courts and discussions. The campus is beautiful with trees and gardens. The fee is affordable, with concessions based on caste and community. Classrooms and facilities are excellent. We also have some cultural events, NSS, and legal awareness programs. Scholarships are available, and the college is well-connected by public transport.

One of the best law colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Placements: Our placement record was the best of any law college in the state, with nearly 85% annual placement since its inception. To my knowledge, the average salary for a GLC graduate student was between 8 LPA and 10 LPA. Leading recruiting firms, such as Trilegal, Amarchand Mangaldas Khaitan & Co., AZB, SAM, Luthra, CAM, and other law firms, visited our campus to recruit. Our institute also offered excellent internship opportunities for students.
Infrastructure: At our university, the academic block was air-conditioned. Wi-Fi service was decent and free. Library was well-stocked and had books and materials for all law subjects. Access to a large number of online resources for legal research was available through the library's website. The mess was managed by students and provided good food at reasonable prices. The hostel rooms were adequate and equipped with the necessary furniture. We also had a spacious playground and 24-hour medical service. Overall, the infrastructure was good enough and acceptable.
Faculty: Professors were competent in most subjects, offered a thorough analysis of case law, and helped students understand the relevant legislation in the legal classes. The curriculum was relevant and prepared according to the requirements of the industry. While the semester pass rate was 98%, a comparative grading system was in place, making it difficult to exceed 80%. Students were prepared for internships and, in the future, for employment through various curricular and extracurricular activities.

The faculty members are good, but the infrastructure should be developed.
Placements: The placement in the college is very low. The student placed through placement is also very low because most of the students are not interested in joining in corporate jobs. I'm studying 2nd year, so I'm not much aware of the placement opportunity. The details about the placement opportunities are available on the official website of the college.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure should be developed, and the library facility is too good in the college. The Wi-Fi connection is available all over the college. The hostel infrastructure will also be developed. They are providing hostels for those who are coming from far distances.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is too good. The students who choose BCA and B.Com courses can be easily qualified for corporate jobs. The semester exams are moderate (neither easy nor tough). To pass the semester exam, the student must get 35 marks in externals and 15 marks in internals; they have to get 50% to pass.
Other: Lawyer is my passion, so I chose this course. The best about my course is that the student can get jobs in corporations as well as be an ACT as an advocate. There will be three events in the college. Tantara, ethnic day, and sayonara (only for hostel students) are events in the college.

Q:   What is the seat intake for BA LLB (Hons) at TNDALU Chennai?
A:

TNDLAU Chennai follows the rules of the state for seat reservations. The total number of seats available for BA LLB (Hons) is 156. Out of the total number of seats,  15% are reserved for NRI candidates. In case these seats are left vacant, then these are converted to general seats and allotted to eligible students on merit basis. The university reserve the right to revise the seat intake for the programme.

Q:   What are the minimum marks required for B.Sc at TNDALU Chennai 2023?
A:

A significant criterion for admission into most B.Sc. programs is the attainment of at least 50% marks in pertinent subjects during the 12th grade, generally concentrating on Science disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology (PCMB). Specialized fields like Applied Chemistry, Physics or Zoology necessitate these specific subject requirements while Biochemistry and Bioinformatics demand a background in both Biology and Chemistry. In order to pursue Mathematics-based courses, securing a minimum of 50% in 12th grade Mathematics becomes imperative.

The pathway to gaining entry into particular domains varies based on your chosen discipline. For instance, aspiring students interested in pursuing Applied Chemistry or Physics can gain access through TNPCEE scores whereas Computer Science or Electronics programs provide flexibility by accepting either TNPCEE or TNEA scores. It should be noted that proficiency in key subjects from the 12th grade curriculum - especially Math and Physics - holds paramount importance when considering these options.

Moreover, TNEA scores combined with a scientific educational background are required for individuals inclined towards Geology studies. While those passionate about mathematics have the choice between opting for either TNPCEE orTNEA provided they excel academically in their math coursework during high school.

Q:   How many seats are there in TNDALU for BCom LLB (Hons) programme?
A:

The total seat intake for the BCom LLB (Hons) programme offered at the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is 156. Communal reservation and reservation for special categories as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu will be followed for the selection of eligible candidates.

Q:   Can I get B.Tech at TNDALU Chennai with 75 percentile in TNEA?
A:

Getting a B.Tech at TNDALU Chennai with a 75 percentile in TNEA holds good promise, but it isn't a guaranteed ticket to your dream program. A 75 percentile in TNEA indicates you've outperformed 75% of the test-takers, placing you in a competitive position for B.Tech admissions. This percentile score suggests strong academic ability, which universities highly value.

More sought-after specializations like Computer Science or Electronics tend to have higher cut-offs. The competition intensifies if fewer seats are available in a specific program. Some seats are reserved for specific categories like SC, ST, and OBC, impacting the General category cut-offs.

A 75 percentile is a strong indicator, but it's not a guarantee. Unexpected variations in cut-offs or high competition for specific programs can still affect your chances. Prepare well for the counseling process. Prioritize your programme preferences and be ready to make adjustments based on available options.

TNDALU Chennai FAQs

Q:   What is the last date for TNDALU LLB admission?
A:

Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University 2024 admission dates are not out as of now. The application form can be released in and around Jun/Jul. As per the past years' admission schedule, TNDALU LLB application process is concluded by August.

Q:   Who is eligible for LLB at TNDALU Chennai?
A:

Candidates seeking admission to LLB programme of TNDALU Chennai need to meet the eligibility requirements. Applications of ineligible students are treated as invalid. Aspirants who have a valid UG degree or equivalent from a recognised university are eligible for admission to the three-year course. Candidate must hold the degree and mark sheets during application process and admissions. The documents are required for eligibility verification.

Q:   Is TNDALU Chennai more expensive than National Law School of India University, Bangalore?
A:

When comparing just the tuition costs, NLSIU is noticeably more expensive than TNDALU. The cheaper hostel costs at TNDALU, however, somewhat make up for the disparity. Living costs are much more in Bangalore than they are in Chennai. Considering all of these variables, NLSIU's overall tuition for undergraduate programmes is probably more expensive than TNDALU's, however specific scholarship circumstances may differ.

For postgraduate programmes, the difference in tuition fees between NLSIU and TNDALU is less, while the costs for housing are the same. Living costs are considerably greater in Bangalore than they are in Chennai, though. As a result, although the difference is somewhat smaller than for UG programmes, the overall cost of attending NLSIU for PG programmes is probably going to be somewhat more than TNDALU.
