This course is a wilderness first aid course. People interested in this course should have an interest in learning about medical conditions commonly encountered in an outdoor setting. They should want to learn to keep themselves and their groups safe as well as to provide basic medical care to help stabilize and/or evacuate injured or ill people. To be successful in this course, students should be interested in the subject matter and excited to learn, but a background in healthcare or science is not required.
Applied Learning Project
Understand how to treat common medical problems encountered in a wilderness setting. Understand when to evacuate an injured party. Learn about how to treat medical conditions in remote or wilderness settings.
