If the student still wants a certification, you can seek financial assistance on the edX platform. By enrolling in free to audit courses that are eligible for verified certificates, interested students can apply for financial assistance. If a student is under the age limit to officially enroll in an edX course but manage to complete it and earn a certificate, he/she can include this achievement on resume when applying to college. Having an "Honor-Code" certificate demonstrates your commitment to learning and your ability to complete college-level coursework.
Previously, edX offered honor-code certificates for those who audited courses and achieved a passing grade. These certificates were free and indicated that you completed the course content successfully. However, edX no longer provides any certificates for free audits; certificates are now only available to those who pay for the course.
