Q:   How can a student access a free course after it expires?
A:

edX free courses are also known as audit tracks. In these free courses, students will have limited time access to course content. The expiry date of the course is mentioned on the right side of the course homepage. Once the course expires, the student will have to pay and upgrade to a verified certificate track to access the current session or enrol in future sessions whenever the course is offered again. By upgrading to a paid course or a verified track, students will gain access to course material including graded assignments till the course ends.

Q:   Are edX courses paid or free?
A:

edX offers both free and paid courses. If the student is financially weak, he/she can enrol in a ‘free to audit’ track. However, you will not get a certification. If the student still wants a certification, you can seek financial assistance on the edX platform. By enrolling in free to audit courses that are eligible for verified certificates, interested students can apply for financial assistance. Do note that not all eligible students will get financial assistance. If you need a certificate, you can directly enrol in verified tracks or paid courses. This will ensure that you will get the certificate after the course completion.

FAQs Related To edX

Q:   What is the value of edX certificates?
A:

edX certificates have value for several practical reasons. They are issued by well-known universities like Harvard and MIT, which adds a level of credibility to your skills and knowledge. This can make a positive impression on your resume when applying for jobs. Additionally, earning an edX certificate shows that you are proactive about learning and improving yourself, which many employers find attractive.

These certificates include several subjects, providing relevant knowledge for various fields. Some edX certificates can also count towards professional certifications or continuing education credits, which can be useful for career advancement. They serve as proof of your expertise, which can be helpful in job applications or promotions.

Q:   Can a student put the certificate on high school resume if that student does not reach the age limit to do the course but does it anyways?
A:

If a student is under the age limit to officially enroll in an edX course but  manage to complete it and earn a certificate, he/she can  include this achievement on resume when applying to college. Having an "Honor-Code" certificate demonstrates your commitment to learning and your ability to complete college-level coursework.

Previously, edX offered honor-code certificates for those who audited courses and achieved a passing grade. These certificates were free and indicated that you completed the course content successfully. However, edX no longer provides any certificates for free audits; certificates are now only available to those who pay for the course.

Q:   What does verified track mean in edX?
A:

Verified track means that students who enrol in verified track are eligible to get a verified certificate of achievement. By enrolling in a verified track, students will qualify to receive a verified certificate if they earn a passing score before the end of the course. Students will be able to access all graded assignments and examinations.

Even after the course is archived, they will be able to view the course content including videos, readings, discussions, practice problems and progress. After upgrading to verified track, students must earn a passing score before the end of the course. Along with that, they must also pass the proctoring if the course consists of proctored exams.

A:

MicroMasters programs are a special category of courses offered by edX that expedite your journey from bachelor's to master's programs. These programs are in between bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

These programs include high-level courses that are equivalent to traditional master's programs. These courses focus on developing specific skills and knowledge required for advanced studies and professional work.
