An all-rounder college in terms of placements, infrastructure and course curriculum
Placements: The placements have put Goa Institute of Management in one of the most sought after management colleges in the Tier-2 bracket. The college has been doing consistently well in terms of placements with companies spanning across IT consulting, BFSI, FMCG, and media and market research firms. The placements have been on a consistent rise with the average package close to Rs 9.5 lacs offered to the batch of 2014-16. The college boasts of 100% placements with around 40% batch getting offers of more than 10 lacs.
Infrastructure: Situated and founded in Goa since 1993, the college shifted to a state-of-the-art campus in 2010 at Sankhali (North Goa). It is a 60-acre campus covered totally by high-speed Wi-Fi, and the facilities here are high-tech classrooms, a library, a finance lab, an amphitheatre, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a football/cricket ground, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a cafeteria and hostels.
Faculty: The course curriculum is absolutely relevant and consistently updated/upgraded. The faculty team has a mix of academicians, scholars as well as visiting faculty members coming in ample numbers with a vast corporate experience. The teaching methods comprise of classroom teaching, case studies, workshops, discussions, projects and assignments, CSR, graded summer internship, etc.
Other: 1. Placement-wise, the college is more or less on par with all the specialisations. 2. A completely student-managed setup with around 20 clubs/committees/societies run by the students. 3. Dedicated industry-interaction specific and CSR specific committees among others.

Back to college time again.
Placements: The placements are good. Most of the students (approx. 90%) are placed before December (5th semester end). The major chunk is taken by IT services and consulting companies. Few other companies like in Retail, Banking, Automobile, Startups take people in single digit only. In my batch, the average package was around 8.5 LPA and it varied from 5 LPA to 12 LPA. The roles offered were equal to any tier-2 colleges like assistant manager, associate consultant, analysts, etc. The internship offered to the students was not a great success. Only 50% students were offered a good learning role in corporate world. The remaining students went onto the internship on their own by some references/contacts. The stipend ranged from 20k per month to 1 LPA in internship.
Infrastructure: It has a beautiful 50 acres campus with all the facilities. The campus covers an area of 50 acres. The classrooms and labs had top-notch facilities like automatic attendance detectors, projectors with shared drive access, charging points, mics, etc. Wi-Fi is there in the whole campus building and hostels. The labs and classrooms had good sitting and were sound-proof. The canteen food was getting better due to the canteen committee (students). Hostel rooms for the 1st year were shared while in the 2nd year, it is on individual basis. Sports was the area where one can keep yourself engaged in GIM. Prayas (sports club) had organised various sports activities and competitions every month almost. Library had good amount of books. Medical facilities were at par level. The doctor comes for only 2-3 hours in the evening otherwise the first-aid kit was available.
Faculty: Faculty members of GIM were very experienced. There were various top-class visiting faculty members who teaches in 2nd year mostly according the elective. Students can also get in touch with the management and discuss the feedback of the faculty members and get more visiting faculty members if required. Most of the faculty members have done Ph.D and have written many National papers too. There were almost 50 faculty members for the batch of 250, so the ratio comes to (500/50) =10:1 including both batches. There were various practical approaches taken by them to teach a complex topic. There was a compulsory 1 industrial visit according to the subject every year. The course curriculum was not according to the industry standards.
Other: The college has facilities like gym, football, tennis, swimming pool and a multi-purpose hall to keep the students active and fresh after a hectic day. Also, there are various clubs/committees to keep students engaged over the 2 years. This not only helps students in staying motivated but also in seeing and experiencing new things. The placements were decent enough. Mostly, IT companies have come to the campus as most of the students have a technical (B.Tech/B.E) background. The ROI was not that great as the fees has increased in the recent years. The batch strength is a major advantage in comparison to other Tier-2 B-schools. The bad/good thing for some is attendance being 100% mandatory and students lose their grades if they miss or bunk lectures. Although genuine reasons are considered, it is problematic as it is a fast moving curriculum with 2 years divided into 6 semesters. The CSR Initiative is a really great step towards the society and a break from the regular classroom study refreshes the students. Giving back to the society should be an integral part of us and GIM pushes us towards it. In the end, if you choose GIM, then I think you will never regret the awesome life.

Since you have not updated your data, the college won't be able to know your CMAT scores. However, you can call the admissions department and ask them if there is any substitute.

Yes, you can apply to both. The cut offs are not the same. HCM has profile based selection.
