MBA admission for 2026 batch is ongoing at several private universities. While all Tier 1 colleges have released their final merit lists, many Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges are inviting applications for admission. Applications will close by the end of this month as the classes for the current academic session will start from July. Candidates, who wish to start an MBA programme this year, must not miss the application deadline.

Before applying candidates must keep in mind location, fee, curriculum, infrastructure, industry exposure, and placements. Every year over two lakh MBA aspirants appear in CAT - the common entrance test conducted by the IIM to pursue MBA/PGDM/PGP programmes. The admission procedure of the IIMs includes CAT exam and WAT/PI.

IIM admission is based on CAT exam result. The IIMs screen test takers on the basis of their CAT score and academic record. Category-wise CAT cut off percentiles are fixed for each IIM for shortlisting candidates. Those who meet the eligibility requirement ( CAT cut off) are selected for Written Ability Test (GD/WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The final selection is based on candidate's overall performance on various parameters such as academics, CAT exam, /WAT-PI, work experience.

Q:   Is 130 a good score in MAH MBA CET?

Yes, 130 marks can be conducted a good score in MAH MBA CET, considering the total marks is 200. The score of 130 will convert into above 99 percentile.

Q:   Is the CAT syllabus difficult?
A: 

Yes CAT syllabus is difficult to crack if you do not have enough time. There are three subjects in CAT- VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude. Most of candidates find RC passages tough to crack. In Quants, Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry pose significant challenge during preparation. In DILR, Reasoning questions often turnout to be tricky and confusion. 

Q:   For how long is CMAT admit card available for download?
A: 

The CMAT admit card will be available for download until the exam day. They link for downloading it will be removed after the exam is over. It is advised that candidates download their CMAT admit cards as soon as it is released so that they have ample time to check their test centre location. Candidates living in locations where they have to travel far to reach the CMAT centre must specifically download their admit cards in advance and visit the test centre once to check the location and distance so that they don’t get late on the exam day.

Q:   Will the application fees be refunded if I do not appear for the CMAT exam?
A: 
No, the CMAT registration fees is non-refundable. If they do not appear for the exam they cannot claim refund for the application form. Since, it is mentioned in the exam information brochure that the fee is non-refundable, no requests for refund are entertained by the NTA. The fee will not be refunded to any candidate under any circumstances, which includes errors in the form. Thus, candidates must check eligibility criteria and terms and conditions before applying or the exam. They must also not make mistakes in the form to avoid double form filling and fee payment. Because if they make mistakes in the form they cannot edit it (except for graduation score, test city, photo and signature). They will have to fill a fresh CMAT application form and pay the fee amount again. However, if there is error at the time of fee payment and your money is deducted but the payment is not completed then your money will be refunded by the bank within 5 working days.

Freshers should start Quantitative Aptitude preparation with NCERT Mathematics books of Class 9 and 10 for getting fundamental understanding of the topics and concepts. Once they have grasped the concepts of Algebra, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Geometry and other topics of Arithmetic, then move on to books with advanced level of Quantitative Aptitude topics. Arun Sharma’s books on preparation for Quantitative Aptitude (also VARC and DILR books) are highly recommended as they are exhaustive and contain test papers of various difficulty levels.
