Commonly asked questions
On All Courses
Q:   Are Coursera courses self-paced? Can I finish my course faster than the stated time?
A:

Yes, Coursera courses are designed to be self-paced. It means, you can learn as per your schedule. You can complete your course at a speed that suits you. You can finish it faster than the estimated duration if your schedule permits. The time it takes to complete a course or specialisation largely depends on the number of hours you dedicate everyday or week. Additionally, your prior knowledge of the subject matter can influence your pace. If you are already familiar with the concepts and terminology, you may find it easier and quicker to progress through the material.

Q:   Are Coursera courses flexible?
A:

The Coursera courses are highly flexible and accessible to learners worldwide. Most courses are self-paced, so you can learn anytime, at any hour, but still move ahead with the pace. However, some courses and specializations have suggested deadlines for helping learners complete the programme within the scheduled time frame.

Another flexibility Coursera allows in enrollment is through an audit, where you can look into the course material for free and decide later if you wish to pay for certification. This makes it easy for learners to balance education with work, family, and other commitments.

Q:   How can I have access to lectures and assignments on Coursera?
A:

Access to lectures and assignments on Coursera depends on your enrollment type. If you choose to enroll in audit mode, you will be able to view most course materials at no cost. To access graded assignments and earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience either during or after your audit.

If you do not see an audit option:

  • The course may not offer an audit mode. In this case, you can explore a Free Trial or apply for Financial Aid.

  • The course might provide a "Full Course, No Certificate" option, which allows you to access all course materials, complete assessments, and receive a final grade, but does not include the ability to purchase a Certificate experience.

Q:   How to apply for financial aid on Coursera?
A:

To apply for financial aid on Coursera, follow the below steps:

  • Open the course description page on Coursera.org.

  • Find the section with information about financial aid

  • Click Learn More and apply.

  • Fill out and submit your application, and meet the minimum word count (150 words).

  • Wait for 16 days for your application to be reviewed. If you start a free trial for a subscription, your financial aid application will be cancelled.

The Structured Query Language (SQL)
5
Learning Experience: The course content is very nice and understandable. The best things I liked were the assignments and live labs. I got to practice programming along with watching tutorials. The quizzes and assignments are fine to give and pass if we follow the course.
Faculty: The faculty who taught me in my course is very good and experienced. He taught all the concepts very well and in an understandable way. The peer group has important discussions and extra things. The course curriculum is very up-to-date. All the important topics that are needed are involved in the syllabus. The assignment and lab work are very helpful
Course Support: The course has helped me very much by giving good grip on SQL since it has labs also. I added it to my resume and got to answer queries in SQL after this course.

Relational database systems
5
Learning Experience: A relational database management system (RDBMS) is a collection of programs and capabilities that enable IT teams and others to create, update, administer and otherwise interact with a relational database. RDBMSes store data in the form of tables, with most commercial relational database management systems using Structured Query Language (SQL) to access the database. However, since SQL was invented after the initial development of the relational model, it is not necessary for RDBMS use.
Faculty: The faculty was very good. They provided assistance on time, and I completed that too on time. It helps me to learn all concepts related to this RDBMS The course curriculum was good. I learned a lot of things about relational database management systems because it is the most widely used system among organisations across the globe.
Course Support: This course completion will help me to get into the next course related to this RDBMS course. It will help me to get a job in a company in my country or outside.

Learning Experience: The course, I opted for was for data science basics understanding and concept summarization. It was very well-designed and easy to understand. It has developed my skills in data science. The pros of the course are easy understanding of data, the cons are not as much but you can't change the language to your mother tongue.
Faculty: The faculty was great and their approach is quite simple and nice. The quality of the lectures is just awesome. It helps with practical knowledge as well. There was no live session provided. The course is designed in a very easy manner. Resources are provided within the course and the structure is from beginner to advanced in great method. Assignments are to be given and a minimal score of 80% is required.
Course Support: It helped me understand data science and was a great start to data science and its various fields. I would recommend to opt this course if you are interested.
