Learning a new language can open up so many doors. Not only will it help you when travelling the world, but its also an extremely useful skill in any professional setting.
On this two-week introductory course from Kings College London, you will learn the basics of the Portuguese language, allowing you to strike up simple conversations in a social environment.
To lay the foundation of the Portuguese language, you will start by engaging in basic conversations to introduce yourself and ask for basic information. You will cover how to pronounce Portuguese letters and combinations of letters as well as how to identify Portuguese grammar.
As the language is spoken across multiple continents, it has developed cultural characteristics and deviations between countries. You will delve into the basic differences between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, from addressing people formally to cultural colloquialisms.
Each stage of this course will allow you to use your new skills practically by producing short written and oral texts about yourself. You will also collect information from simple texts and audio documents to showcase the reading and listening aspects of your learning.
On this course, you will be guided by teaching staff and lecturers from the Modern Language Centre at Kings College London, all of whom are native Portuguese speakers.
The course has been mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standard, ensuring that its designed to meet your language needs and will help you lay the foundation for you to continue learning Portuguese effectively.
