Secondary School is where kids get educated after their primary education is completed. Secondary Education acts as a link between Primary and Higher Education. The primary education is meant to educate the kids with the basics of education. Secondary Education takes place when young kids are in their adolescence therefore it is responsible for the growth and development of young children. The age of 14 to 18 years is the time when the emotional, physical and mental developments of children are at a good pace. 

Senior Secondary Education is the higher level of Secondary Education. Kids in Senior Secondary are about 15 to 18 years of age and are in the phase of being young adults. The senior secondary years of a student involves the 11th & 12th grade of a student. Senior Secondary is also referred as High school in various places. 

In the Senior Secondary years, the respective fields of study get divided into various streams like Science, Commerce and Arts. Students can choose any stream that they are interested in and would like to make a career out of it by studying further. Senior Secondary years of education are the two last years of secondary education. After this the students take up college for specific degrees like engineering, doctor, CA, CS, Accountancy, etc. 

Eligibility for Secondary and Senior Secondary School

  • The eligibility for Secondary School is as such:

The student must complete the basic years of schooling that is the Primary School. Primary School includes the years before Secondary education. The students must pass the primary school years.

Age Limit: 14 to 16 years 

  • The eligibility for Senior Secondary School is:

The students must pass the Secondary school, which is 9th or 10th grade in order to get admission to 11th grade. 

Age Limit: 16 to 18 years

Admission to Secondary and Senior Secondary School

Admission to Secondary school is given on the basis of primary school. If the student has completed his primary education then he can get admission to Secondary school. Some schools take interviews of the students before giving admission. 

Admission to senior secondary school is doe on the basis of the percentage of marks the child’s scores in his 10th grade.
