NTT stands for Diploma in Nursery Teacher Training. For teachers who desire to instruct and care for pupils at the nursery level or pre-primary level, there is a Diploma programme called the Nursery Teachers' Training course, or NTT. After completing their 12 grade, students who intend to enter the field of school teaching immediately should enroll in this introductory course. Few colleges accept entrance scores for the same; most universities base admissions mostly on merit. 

After this course, you can start working as an elementary teacher or a preschool teacher. Other than that you can go for the job of assistants or day-care facilitators across primary schools or play schools.

Besides working, you have the option to pursue higher degrees in the field of teaching and education such as D.El.Ed or B.Ed or M.Ed. 

You can even work in Anganbadi and other rural educational initiatives for providing inclusive and accessible education to all young children.

A minimum of 50% in their 10+2 board exams from any recognised institute in any subject is required for admission to the one-year NTT training Diploma program. Students from any stream (Commerce, Science or Humanities) are welcome to enrol.

The exam body Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will soon rleease the IGNOU B.Ed entrance exam dates. Candidates can start submitting their BEd applications from January month. The IGNOU BEd entrance exam is expected to be conducted on March 2026, to shortlist candidates for BEd course offered at IGNOU through distance learning mode.

You can not apply for the Teacher Eligibility Test after 2 years of Nursery Teacher Training. The requirements for the Teacher Eligibility Test are either D.El.Ed (for classes 1 to 5).

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. General Admission Criteria Under NTT Course

Numerical codes should also be: 10 + 2 certification by any recognised board with a minimum of 50 marks in relation to obtaining admission for Nursery Teacher Training. However, some institutes might have different eligibility criteria for graduate degree holders.

Generally, graduate level candidates are admitted even with less than 45% marks, as per the policies of individual colleges which are merit-based. 

It is best to understand from the colleges the specific criterion though if the college allows lesser graduation marks, it may have other age or experience requirements for that particular field.
