Q:   How is the MA in Research at IIT Bombay?
A:
The HSS department at IITBombay is introducing the Master of Arts by Research (MA. Res) with precisely this emphasis. The faculty members in the department represent diverse areas of expertise and have considerable experience teaching with an emphasis on research skills while accommodating disciplinary crossovers with ease. This is especially important since many of the concerns of the Humanities and Social Sciences requireamulti-disciplinary approach. Our students have been successful both in working at the interfaces of different areas and in transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries in their work. The programme combines course work to build student competence in specific areas, research training, and researchmodules for independent work. Students are expected to carry out a successful programme of research within the duration of the programme. The internal structure of the programme is designed to be quite different from course intensive postgraduate programmes and allows for relative flexibility interms of student backgrounds and prior training

My honest opinion about my college.
Infrastructure: The hostel rooms of senior boys are very small and congested. I really think that there must be bigger rooms. At least double the size of the present rooms. The mess food is also not that good.
Faculty: Faculty of IIT Bombay is really rich with knowledge and sheer experience. They are easily available, and the internal exams are decided by the teachers only. A lot of subjects and a busy schedule do not feel so hectic if teachers are helpful. The course that I selected and got due to my good rank is Computer Science. We get to learn coding and how to develop an app or website. All things are taught in one place. The exams are twice a year, which need to be passed to go to the next semester. The course curriculum is awesome and is well updated. Faculty members teach with utmost sincerity and are always ready to help students. Students are provided with proper industry exposure. Overall, it develops students and their personalities.
Other: The infrastructure is pretty good in comparison to many colleges. I think it is one of the best colleges in India. The infrastructure should be a lot better. There is very little exposure, especially for UGs. There are very few international scholarships/exchange programs offered. Language courses in different countries are provided, which is a good step.

Review of IIT Bombay.
Placements: 99 percent should be required to get a place in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. The highest package of this course at IIT Bombay is 2.2 crore per year. The lowest package is 4-10 LPA. Above 85-95% students get internships from my course in organisations like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. Top roles offered in my course are Software Development Engineer, Cloud Engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The entire campus has internet access. Dedicated Software Labs, Advanced programing & systems labs are available. We also have smart classrooms with projected &AV systems. Air-conditioned lecture halls are available for studying. In the library, there are about 12000+ journals, Wi-Fi enabled reading halls, and a dedicated study space.
Faculty: Professors, associate & assistant professors are for teaching. The course curriculum is highly relevant, but it does not automatically make everyone industry-ready. The ability of students makes them industry-ready by learning new tech quickly and understanding systems deeply. The best way to get industry-ready is by learning a curriculum with and efforts. So think about this.
Other: Campus surroundings are so beautiful. There are Powai Lake, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, etc., places to enjoy. We have 80+ clubs. Swimming pool, Gym, music, sports, etc., are also available.

College provides good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Around 76% of students get placed. Others go for startups, freelancing, or higher studies. The highest package is around 60 LPA, and the lowest is around 7 LPA. Top recruiters for core roles include Intel, TSMC, Samsung, Applied Materials, Tata Steel, and GE Aerospace. For non-core roles, companies include Deloitte, Accenture, EXL Services, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Around 85% students get internships in companies like Applied Materials, Deloitte, and Morgan Stanley. Top core roles include Junior Researcher and Junior/Senior Engineer, while non-core roles include Analyst and Software Engineer.
Infrastructure: Facilities are excellent. The department buildings are well maintained and renovated. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned with large screens, speakers, and smart boards. The library is huge with a large collection of books and also has a digital library. Labs are good and useful for practical work. The mess food is decent, like home-style food. There is a hospital inside the campus. Many canteens are open till late night with affordable food. There are different sports courts with near Olympic-standard facilities.
Faculty: Professors are well qualified and very helpful and friendly, not too strict, and have strong knowledge of the subjects they teach. The teaching quality is good. The curriculum is relevant, with the first year building a strong foundation, helping students become industry-ready. The difficulty depends on the course, but it is generally moderate with relative grading, and most students pass easily.
Other: I found the course interesting as material science is applied in everyday life. The coursework is sometimes stressful because of managing multiple things at once. The events are very exciting, and Mood Indigo and Techfest are among Asia’s biggest cultural and technical festivals.

Very beautiful campus, full of greenery, best sports facility, and nice placements.
Placements: In my department, almost 70% of students get placed. The highest package is 1.69 CPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA in core. Top companies that come here to hire are L&T, Tata Projects, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Kalpataru Projects International, Godrej, etc. Teaching roles are mostly offered for my college.
Infrastructure: Lecture hall complexes are very nice and well-furnished, having enough space to accommodate a large number of students. Hostel rooms are of good size, with Wi-Fi available outside every room and single-room facilities from the second year for B. Tech students. There is one central library where all types of books are available, we can go any time to read or borrow books for reading at the hostel. Mess food is nice, and the night canteen is good, so students can take food at midnight during study breaks.
Faculty: Top faculty are provided from all over India. They are well-qualified, many with Ph.Ds., and have good knowledge to teach us. The course curriculum is very relevant and revised every year. Semester exams are very difficult, but we have quizzes in between, so we are somewhat prepared for the main exams.
Other: I want to go into civil services, that’s why I chose civil engineering. In this curriculum, it is not as tough compared to electrical and CS students. Fests are very beautifully organized here, like Mood Indigo, E-Summit, Techfest, and Aavhan.

IIT Bombay—it's a dream college.
Placements: The campus placements at IIT Bombay are good; we can apply for any company irrespective of our branch. Students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester onwards. There are no companies that visited IIT Bombay but did not offer. The highest package ever recorded was around 4.5cr; it was in Fintech (developing algorithms). 75-80 per cent of the students get placed every year. The college provides good internship opportunities. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Idea Forge, and many more offer various roles such as developer, research engineer, etc. The stipend is around 15,000 per month.
Infrastructure: There are gyms in every hostel and a central library that is very accessible. They generally close at 11 pm. The cafeteria and canteens are open till 4 am. The classrooms have smart screens, which aid in understanding. IIT Bombay's gymkhana is one of the best and provides room for almost all sports. There are student-run social groups.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is generally dependent on the type of course; on average, it's about 1:15. For every course, there are around 2-3 quizzes, mid-semester and end-semester. Very few people tend to fail; the courses are very much relevant to our branches.

Absolutely satisfied due to the many opportunities present in this college.
Placements: 70 to 80 percent student got placed and another 5 to 10 percent students do something else. The rest are unplaced. The highest package differs year by year but stays around 1 LPA. The lowest package is around 6 or 7 LPA and the average packages are around 22 to 23 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are non core like McKinsey, Accenture, SDE recruiting companies, Consulting like Revolut, Deloitte etc. The internship percentage is not that high and lies around 40 to 50 percent no data from companies. Top roles are Data Scientist, SDE, Consultant etc. SDE roles are the top choice of students.
Infrastructure: Every facility, like labs, classrooms, library, hostels, and hostel room are top Notch. Wi-Fi is everywhere. Classrooms are very Big. The hostel quality is very good and a recent hostel with very high quality infrastructure comparable to 3 star Hotel. Food quality is very good but sometimes be dependent on mess to mess of every Hostel. As sometimes the Mess Quality is degraded for Profit. The canteen provides decent quality all year round. Medical services are free for every student and there is a sports facility known as the Gym where every sports facility is available and its free for everyone.
Faculty: Honest teaching is not very helpful and many students are unable to cope and are not understood by the teaching of the professor. In recent years course curriculum is made more relevant to the industry and we can say that course makes a student industrial ready in that specific field. Semester exams in a college are dependent on the faculty of the course and they can be very different from easy to tough but generally the pass percentage is 90 percent.
Other: I chose the course because I want to attend IIT Bombay and the best thing is that it gives ideas like AI and data Science. Sometimes clear flow of the course is not given and dates are not given, which makes students confused. In IIT Bombay, events are a part of your life, like there is always be minimum 1 event everyday and 2 to 3 events can be in a single day and you know the fest mood Indigo. The campus is Big. The crowd fees less, connectivity is strong. The campus is green and scholarships can be easily availed. Any Non SDE options present.
