IIT Bombay Announces Second Series of Professional Certification Courses in Cybersecurity and Software Development

November 14, 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has announced the second series of courses under its Professional Certification Programmes in Cybersecurity and Software Development, offered by the IITB Trust Lab, Department of Computer Science & Engineering.

Reinforcing IIT Bombay’s commitment to advancing industry-relevant and application-driven education, these programmes follow an academic–industry integrated model that blends theoretical rigour with hands-on practice. Each fully online programme spans twelve months and consists of three structured courses, delivered by IIT Bombay’s distinguished faculty. Weekly laboratory sessions replicate real-world professional environments, enabling participants to develop both conceptual understanding and workplace-ready expertise.

Each fully online programme spans twelve months and consists of three structured courses, delivered by IIT Bombay’s distinguished faculty. Weekly laboratory sessions replicate real-world professional environments, enabling participants to develop both conceptual understanding and workplace-ready expertise.

The newly introduced courses are:

  • Network Security (Cybersecurity Programme): A fourteen-week course focused on protecting computer networks against evolving cyber threats through practical learning in defence strategies, secure protocols, and network hardening techniques.
  • Full-Stack MERN Development with Apache & Nginx (Software Development Programme): A fourteen-week course designed to equip learners with the ability to design, build, and deploy secure, scalable web applications using modern frameworks and server configurations.

These courses have been carefully designed to keep pace with the current market needs, enhancing participants’ professional growth and opening a wide array of opportunities in these high-demand fields.

Both these programmes will commence on 4 January 2026, and applications close on 31 December 2025.

IIT Bombay Hosts Stellar Academic Research at ATMAN 2.0

January 10, 2025: TMAN 2.0, an event dedicated to innovators, researchers, and leaders from India’s premier institutions, served as a showcase for groundbreaking translational research in Agri-IoT. Organized by the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at IIT Bombay, the event brought together deeptech academic researchers from institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT BHU, NIT Warangal, and VNIT Nagpur, among others. The expo featured over 20 cutting-edge deeptech research projects from across the country, culminating in a research grant funding pitch fest. The event successfully created a corpus of INR 10 crore, with TIH announcing funding for seven academic research projects. Along with the grants, TIH will offer technical development support and guidance to help transition these projects from lab to market.

The event also drew participation from more than 10 industrial leaders, including representatives from Poonawalla Fincorp, Tata Communications, Jio, Tata Chemicals, and L&T. Adding to the innovation showcase were promising Agritech startups, highlighting the collaborative effort between academia, industry, and startups to drive advancements in agricultural technology.

Commenting on the occasion, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, DST, stated, ‘ATMAN 2.0 represents a major stride in advancing innovation, bridging labs to markets. It underscores our commitment to transforming academic research into impactful solutions for national progress.’

Placements: 99 percent should be required to get a place in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. The highest package of this course at IIT Bombay is 2.2 crore per year. The lowest package is 4-10 LPA. Above 85-95% students get internships from my course in organisations like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. Top roles offered in my course are Software Development Engineer, Cloud Engineer, etc.

Very beautiful campus, full of greenery, best sports facility, and nice placements.

Placements: In my department, almost 70% of students get placed. The highest package is 1.69 CPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA in core. Top companies that come here to hire are L&T, Tata Projects, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Kalpataru Projects International, Godrej, etc. Teaching roles are mostly offered for my college.

IIT Bombay—it's a dream college.

Placements: The campus placements at IIT Bombay are good; we can apply for any company irrespective of our branch. Students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester onwards. There are no companies that visited IIT Bombay but did not offer. Absolutely satisfied due to the many opportunities present in this college.

Placements: 70 to 80 percent student got placed and another 5 to 10 percent students do something else. The rest are unplaced. The highest package differs year by year but stays around 1 LPA. The lowest package is around 6 or 7 LPA and the average packages are around 22 to 23 LPA. IIT Bombay College review.

Placements: Around 80 to 85 percent of the students in our course/department were placed on campus every year. The rest choose higher education. Top recruiters were Being, Airbus, HAL, and a few automobile companies like BMW and TATA. Mainly offered roles were lead engineer, production engineer, chief designer, and many more.
