B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2026
4.8
5Placements5Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
My amazing life at IIT Bombay .
Placements: Approximately 90–95% of students from my course were placed. The highest package offered was around 3 crore per annum, the lowest was about 12 lacs per annum, and the average package was around 16–17 lacs per annum. Top recruiting companies include Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. About 60% of students secure internships through placement cells with companies such as Brain & Co., P&G, Microsoft and L. E. K. The top roles offered were in engineering, management, and analytics.
Infrastructure: The civil engineering course at IIT Bombay benefits from modern infrastructure. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and screens, and specialized labs support hands-on learning. High-speed Wi-Fi is available campus-wide, and the Central Library offers extensive resources. Hostel facilities include newly renovated rooms with basic amenities, though some holder hostels (2 out of 16 hostels) have small and congested rooms. The mess serves a variety of meals with a changing monthly menu, though food quality can be consistent. The campus also provides medical services and sports facilities, including grounds for cricket, hockey, and football, as well as many indoor courts.
Faculty: The faculty for the Civil Engineering course at IIT Bombay is highly qualified and knowledgeable, with a strong hand in research and practical application. The teaching quality is excellent, incorporating both theoretical and practical elements. The curriculum is well-structured, equipping students with skills and knowledge needed for industry readiness. Semester exams vary in difficulty, but overall, they are challenging and fair. The pass percentage also varies from course to course and professor to professor.
Other: I chose the Civil Engineering course at IIT Bombay for its interdisciplinary opportunities and the extensive exposure it offers. The best aspects of the course include the flexibility to explore subjects outside the core discipline and the high-quality teaching by experienced faculty. The course is well-designed and comprehensive; any improvements would be minimal as it already meets high standards. The campus is vibrant, with numerous events and festivals like TechFest and Mood Indigo that foster a dynamic environment. Connectivity is excellent, and the campus surroundings, including the beautiful Sameer Hill and Powai Lake, enhance the overall experience. Scholarships are available for those in need. There are ample extracurricular activities, including sports and various student clubs, that contribute to a well-rounded educational and extracurricular experience.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
4.2

The best decision of my life was to really love the campus—its people and culture.
Placements: Major students are placed in good companies for mechanical cores like Jaguar Land Rover, Honda, and Tata Steel. Apart from that, many students pursue higher studies and go to colleges like Stanford and MIT. 90% of students in my batch get internships at top companies, be it software, consult or mechanical core.
Infrastructure: In our department, we have many labs for different subjects of mechanical engineering. Each lab has top-tier machines. Apart from that, our classrooms are equipped with AC, Wi-Fi and sockets for charging our devices. Our hostel rooms are small, but the facilities are really good.
Faculty: Teaching is really helpful and professors are really nice. They really want to help you develop an interest in the core mechanical branch. The course curriculum has been changed in the last few years, which has really helped the students explore outside of their field.
Other: I actually switched branches from civil engineering. But branch changes have been removed by major IITs. We have Asia's largest cultural and teaching fests, which are really good.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2019
3.2
3Placements3Infrastructure3Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
Best college in India where we get huge amounts of Knowledge.
Placements: Placements are the best; we all want to be looked at. Placements here are great and have been experiencing largely unaffected growth in package. The highest package offered in the institute is 1.5 crore+, and the average goes up to INR 21 LPA, which is gate number. As far as chemical engineering is concerned, the average package goes around INR 18 to 19 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostels here great to live in. The hostel experience is really memorable for any student. All hostels have 24?7 Wi-Fi access and connectivity. Hostel mess food is also far then that of the other college. Also, the hostels are quite safe and secure from the perspective of a girl students.
Faculty: The Faculty here is great. All the professors are highly educated and skilled. They are very punctual when it comes to lectures or assignment submissions. The courses here a bit tough, but they are worth studying. Though one may feel that Curriculum is outdated. Passing percentage in IIT Bombay is more.

Discontinue (July-24) - M.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2021
5
5Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Faculty members are too experienced as learning is easy.
Placements: 400+ M.Teach students are placed every year here at IIT. Engineering & Technology was observed as the top sector in the placements followed by IT/Software. In my batch, the placement percentage decreased a little since fewer students participated. The highest international package stood at more than INR 2.1 CPA the highest domestic package stood at more than INR 1 CPA. Honeywell, ISRO, Airbus were the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities provided us not so good in the campus. The hostels given to freshers are good, but from 2nd year onwards the hostels alloted are holder hostels. The holder hostels are not in good condition and are not too spacious to accomodate two students. The space is congested within hostels, which is a problem. The mess menu is great with all types of food, but sometimes the quality degrades which should also be improved. The hostels are allotted during admission time only and the process of registration for hostels is also easy and simple. However, in a high rented place like Mumbai, the hostels are affordable and value for money. The rents in PGs are way too high, thus taking hostel inside campus is a good option.
Faculty: The Aerospace Engineering department in IIT Bombay has around 50 professors. The student to faculty ratio in pour department is about 3.0. All the faculty members are well qualified and completed their research, Ph.D. from premier institutes. All the faculty members have immense knowledge of their field and are a great resource of knowledge for someone who want to learn deeper in their field. Most of the professors explain well and make the classes interactive, so that students can get maximum out of the lecture and learn the application of the concepts. Professors are also approachable via mails or by visiting their offices during office hours. Questions an doubts can be asked in classes too, but if someone wants more clarification, can approach them by sending mails or visiting their offices.
Other: Various social, cultural, technical fests and events are being conducted regularly in the institute. Mood Indigo: The Asia's the biggest cultural fest is organised in IIT BOMBAY in the month of December. Prople from different places come to attend this event. Various programs, performances, competitions are being organised in MOODI. Techfest : The flagship technical fest of IIT BOMBAY is organised also in late December, where participants from different universities come to participate in the Robo wards. There are various clubs like Drama Club, Acting Club, Comedy Cons, Technical clubs, etc. And team like NSS, NCC rhat serves asa way for one to explore his/her passion.

B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science - Batch of 2025
4.2

Good Academics, placements and infrastructure.
Placements: The placements of IIT Bombay are one of the best in the entire country. The percentage of placements in my senior year was around 75 % for all the branches, and it is was similar to that in my own degree. The highest package was around 4 crores INR per year (but the posting of this job was somewhere in Europe, so the cost of living factors have to be accounted for), the lowest was 5 LPA, and the average was around 17-18 LPA. The top companies for my course are McKinsey and Co, BCG, Brain and Co, Goldmann Sachs, Morgan Stanely, Tata Steel, Rakuta, JSW etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in-general is really nice. The labs (specially in the sub-department of spectroscopy) are really high-teach. The department building looks a bit worn-down, but the facilities such as seminar rooms, library etc. Are really up to the mark. The hostels, however are not very nice. The old hostels have really small rooms, and they are in constant repair mode. The new hostels, however, are really nice. A mess is present in every hostel, and a canteen is present in almost every hostel. The sport facilities are really awesome. We have facilities for almost any sport you can think about. Both indoor and outdoor facilities are provided (although outdoor facilities are available due to Mumbai rains for almost 4 months). There is a hosptial inside the campus which provides free medical facility for every member of the institute.
Faculty: The faculty here is very well qualified, all of them being from well-reputed institutes themselves. The teaching quality varies, some professors are really good teachers and some are not. However, every one of them is an excellent researcher. The curriculum provides you with strong theoretical fundamentals, and also provides opportunities for doing various projects. There are many professors here who work closely with the industry, and you can work with those professors to gain industry experience.
Other: I chose the course because I was interested in Physics and this was what my JEE rank was allowing me. The department tries to cover a lot of depth in the curriculum, and in some courses fails to cover depth. I wish it would improve the depth of some courses. The campus life is really happening and vibrant, with a wide range of activities in various areas such as culturals, sports, public service, politics etc. The campus is near Hiranandani, Powai which is a really posh area. So, the surrounding is really nice and convenient. There are various scholarships available based on your CGPA.
