IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management offers a two-year MBA degree in seven specializations and one micro specialisation. The Vinod Gupta School of Management's (VGSOM) flagship MBA curriculum is a residential programme for recent engineering graduates and those who have earned master's degrees in Science, the field of economics or commerce. The MBA programme has developed into one of the best in the nation, fusing the IITs' strengths in technical education with contemporary management philosophy. A thoughtful combination of lectures, case studies, group projects, and workshops are used as teaching methods. Additionally, the course includes a two-month summer internship in the field, which exposes students to real-world management challenges.

IIT Kharagpur offers a four-year BSc course along with a five-year Integrated MSc course across six specialisations each. IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Under this programme, at the end of the first year, interested students with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for a written test and/or interview to check their suitability to enrol for PhD. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme. Students selected for PhD will have to complete the two-year academic requirements of MTech/ MCP programme before enrolment for PhD. For these students, the MTech/MCP and PhD degrees will be awarded together upon successful completion of PhD. The programme is open to students of all categories with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) with a valid GATE score.

The IIT Kharagpur placement details for the BTech Class of 2025 have not been released on the official website yet. Earlier, a total of 685 BTech students registered for the IIT Kharagpur placement session 2024. Out of these, 546 were successfully placed during IIT Kharagpur BTech placements 2024. Based on IIT Kharagpur NIRF 2024 Overall Report, the median packaged offered to UG students in 2023 stood at INR 24 LPA. In 2022, the median package offered to UG students was INR 18 LPA. This shows that IIT Kharagpur placements witnessed a remarkable hike of 25%.

No, admissions in IIT Kharagpur without entrance exam is not possible. The modes of IIT Kharagpur course admissions are both online & offline. Admission to various courses is based on merit & scores of entrance tests. The accepted entrance exams are GATE,  JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and others.

Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hall of Residence is the largest hostel in terms of area and facilities. Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall of Residence construction completed in 2010 is a modern state-of-the-art hostel. It is a very spacious hostel and has many blocks in it. Apart from LBS Hall of Residence, there are several other hostels on the campus of IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kharagpur offers BTech (Hons.) in CSE course based on JEE Advanced scores. Among all the courses, CSE remained the most demanded course over the years. Considering the IIT Kharagpur cutoff 2024, the CSE last-round cutoff stood at 415 for the General AI category candidates. Comparing the 2024 CSE cutoff with previous year, an increase in the CSE cutoff has been seen in 2024. IIT Kharagpur cutoff 2025 was released for admission to BTech(Hons), BSc courses and their specialisations, as well as for the BArch course for all rounds and categories under the All India quota.

The last round cutoff in 2025 ranged from 466 to 19141 for the General AI category students, wherein BTech (Hons) Computer Science and Engineering was the toughest branch to get admission to. On the other hand, the easiest course for admission was the Bachelor of Architecture.

The cutoff was released category-wise for students seeking admission to the BTech/Integrated BTech/BSc specialisations at the college. For candidates belonging to the General AI category, the cutoff ranks varied between 450 and 18182. As per the cutoff range, it is possible to get admission to the college at 10,000 rank in JEE Advanced. Direct admissions are not possible for courses offered at IIT Kharagpur. The accepted entrance exams are JEE Advanced,  JEE Main, and others.
