B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028

CSE and MNC courses in IIT Jammu are better than the IIT lower branches.
Placements: 2024-25 placement data has not been updated till now. The highest package is recorded off campus. In the year 2023-24, around 85-90% of students got placed. The placement cell is working hard to get us placed. Top recruiting companies for our course are Graviton, Samsung, MediaTek, Qualcomm, MathWorks, BP, L&T, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Deloitte, and Flipkart. 80% of students got internships in DRDO, Adobe, Samsung, T&P, etc. For the 2023-24 batch, the highest package is 53 LPA, and the average package ranges from 15-19 LPA. The lowest package is 9 LPA.
Infrastructure: C3i labs are highly equipped with the latest technology. It has new libraries, and a reading hall has been recently built. Classrooms are really huge and the biggest one has 160 seating capacity. We have Nescafe which is open on all days till 1 PM. We also have a canteen near the academic building. The food quality in the mess is not so good, but don't worry the breakfast here is always good, so students should not miss it. Medical facilities are available 24X7. Nearly every sports facility is present here, and we can literally explore a lot here.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. For the teaching quality, I would rate 4 out of 5. The course curriculum in the 1st and 2nd semesters includes some courses that are not related to our branch. The main departmental courses start from 3rd semester, so students can trust the process. We should keep hustling side by side to develop other skills. Semester exams are too easy, and we can easily get an 8.5 SGPA by studying one night before exams. The pass percentage varies usually, and it remains more than 90%.
Other: Our batch is competitive but supportive. We have each type of people here. I chose CSE in IIT Jammu because the average package is good enough for a fresher, even though it is a new IIT and still developing. The best thing about the course is that it is not too hectic and we will have time for other chores. We have an annual cultural fest named Anhad and an annual tech fest named Nexus. It organises an annual sports fest named Pravah. We will enjoy the campus, and events will keep us engaged.

The college is good considering academics, hostels, and placement in tech.
Placements: This year there is approximately 80% placement in IIT Jammu. The highest package on-campus is 45 LPA while the lowest is 6 LPA. However, one student got a package of 85 LPA off-campus. The average package is 13 LPA. I am from the MnC branch which is relatively new. None of the batches of MnC has passed out but it has a very good scope as per the current scenario. CSE has a 100% placement start. Talking about internships, you will get an ample amount of opportunities and college support too.
Infrastructure: The classroom is air-conditioned and there are 2 libraries. There is a study hall too in which you can go and study. You will get institute Wi-Fi 24/7 in the hostel as well as classroom and library. The hostel has some study rooms and TT table setup. The food in the mess ranges from average to good depending upon the mess you get. Talking about sports, there is one football ground (one in the making too), one basketball court, one volleyball court, cricket nets, 2 badminton halls (one indoor and one outdoor),2 gyms, and some indoor games setup (pool, carrom, etc.).
Faculty: The faculty members are well-qualified and easily approachable in most of the cases. However, in some courses, you have to study on your own. The course curriculum is similar to that of other IITs. The semester exam can range from very easy to very tough depending upon the professor. Approximately there is 85%-95% of pass percentage.
Other: The campus is currently in the developing stage. So, you may find it small compared to other IITs. The recent fest was Anhad in which some major names were Pranav Sharma and Monali Thakur. In another event, Madhur Virli had come to perform. Talking about sports.

It's a great place to live in with an amazing infrastructure and growing tech culture.
Placements: In our batch (third year) about 16/40 students got internships in companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Warner Bros, Samsung, etc. Even I got 2 internships as an SDE intern at WBD and the other as a 6-month summer intern (SWE role) at Amazon. The highest package till now in our senior batch is around 62 LPA which is an offer given by Atlassian.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is great. It gives a luxurious feel. A new academic block has been built this semester only, which has bigger AC classrooms and well-equipped labs. The campus has access to 24/7 Wi-Fi with good speed. Mess services are okay, could be worse. Sports culture is improving day by day.
Faculty: Majority of faculty members in the CSE department are good. They are very easily approachable since there are less number of students here compared to other IITs. Course curriculum is good, can be improved a bit, but it's okay, it makes students industry-ready if they are interested in tech. End sem exams are on the tougher side maintaining the standards of IIT, but going to class will help you a lot.
Other: I want to solve a big myth about IIT Jammu about it not being safe. It's completely safe, majorly everything that happens in the Kashmir side which is very far away from us. Jammu is a very safe city with very simple people so don't opt the idea of joining in here because it is in Jammu and Kashmir.

Getting an IIT itself is a big thing.
Placements: Almost all students get placed in our course. The average package is 14 LPA and the highest is 50 LPA. Top roles are in Data Science, ML, and software development. Top recruiting companies like Qualcomm, Intel, Nvidia, Amazon, and Silicon Labs. Almost the batch gets internships. There is nothing hard to get.
Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure, it is one of the best due to the new emerging IIT. Hostels are the best I have ever seen in my life with so many facilities, night canteens, and a good mess. Medical facilities are also good. A proper gaming area building is there, along with a huge ground for football.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are well-qualified and have a lot of experience. What they teach is not able to get on YouTube and sometimes not even in books. They make us industry-ready. Exams are quite intuitive. It's not like you study everything and go for the exam. It's still possible that you won't be able to solve it.

Comprehensive, supportive, and growth-oriented college experience.
Placements: Around 80% of students were placed in IIT Jammu. The highest package was 50 LPA, the lowest was 8 LPA, and the average was around 15 LPA. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, and L&T. Nearly 85% got internships at companies like DRDO, ISRO, and Tata. Top roles offered are software dev, analyst, and engineer.
Infrastructure: There is no shortage of water here. However, there are no rooms with air conditioning, though classrooms do have these facilities. I am a vegetarian, and the food in the mess is average in quality. The registration process is simple and smooth. The library is open 24 hours, while the gym closes at 11:30 PM and the cafeterias stay open until 3 AM. On campus, you must return by 11 PM. There are some hangout places outside, including fast food spots and many restaurants. Yes, it is completely safe.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful except some and mostly are knowledgeable. Teaching quality is also very good. The course curriculum is relevant except some courses make students industry-ready. Some courses are difficult and some are moderate. Passing is approximately 25 to 30 out of 100.

Good college in tier 3 IITs.
Placements: In electrical engineering, the last time that is 2024 batch had an astonishing record of 87% placed. The highest offered was around 50 LPA and the average was 18 LPA. I don't know about recruiting companies but so many companies come to recruit. Around 70% were given internships from my course.
Infrastructure: The facilities are quite good. They provide full-time Wi-Fi. Labs have so much equipment. Classrooms are neat. Even the library has a vast collection of books. The quality of food is below average as you cannot expect anything much better because it is located in Jammu and I am a south Indian who likes to eat more spicy, they cook food which is sweet. Medical facilities are also good. They also conduct good events based on sports and games.
Faculty: Our teachers are very helpful, qualified, and highly knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is also very good. The given course curriculum is also relevant. It makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are also average like if you study it would be easier. The pass percentage is 95%.

One of the above average colleges in IIT Jammu.
Placements: I do not know but average package always lies between 18 LPA to 24 LPA. Around 85% of students get placed in CSE every year. The placements are good in CS branch while other branches have bad placements. We should get atleast 7.5 CG to get good placements. All students above are placed by considering their merit but not CG.
Infrastructure: Everything is fine but room cleaning is not so frequent. The mess doesn't provide non-veg because of some budget issues. But the food is okay and hygienic. The taste is not good but the quality is good. The 1st and 2nd year students have 2 shared rooms and 3rd and 4th year male students have 1 shared room with inbuilt air-conditioning.
Faculty: Whatever faculty members teach is not so much understandable to people who have language barriers like South Indian. I am a South Indian I personally think that teachers on Youtube teach way better than college teachers. So I always study on Youtube and attend classes only for attendance.
Other: They form communities and racism exists but no ragging in this college. Racism means all kinds of racism. But people act respectfully in front of all girls and other people. Most of the college people are good.

The institute has great infrastructure and facilities and is one of the well-emerging third-gen IIT.
Placements: 70% of students were placed in our course. Almost all students secured internships from our course. The majority of them were placed in other IITs, small-scale industries, as well as companies like BPCL, RIL, and many other chemical industries. Students also gain greater exposure by participating in hackathons.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is rated 4.5 out of 5. The infrastructure is top-notch, with newly established hostels and well-facilitated. The quality of food available is rated 3.8 out of 5 (less spicy), and hygiene is great. Sports and Games are highly encouraged and well-facilitated. Students selected for inter-IIT events receive greater privileges, and the coaches do a perfect job in their respective fields.
Faculty: Teachers are top-notch and influential in their respective industries. The curriculum is relevant and prepares students for the real world. Semester exams depend on the professors, and their difficulty ranges from medium to hard. The pass percentage varies from 30% and also depends on the professor. Grading is most likely relative.
Other: Festivals are well celebrated, and having AIMS, IIM, and IIT in a single city provides more development opportunities. With a set lower limit of CGPA, students can directly pursue an MBA at IIM. The I2EDC and I3C functions run efficiently, and technical fests create a hub of connections with top industry leaders.
