IIT Jammu offers seats to candidates based on their entrance exam scores. Admission to BTech and M.Tech is based on JEE advanced and GATE scores, respectively. The selection for MSc programmes is based on IIT JAM score. Candidates need to pass any of the accepted exam for PhD. Hence, direct admission is not possible for UG, PG and PhD courses.

Aspirants must pass Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering /Technology to apply for PhD programme at IIT Jammu.Candidates who have completed a four-year UG degree with GATE score or Master's degree in Science (with a good academic record) and a valid GATE / UGC-CSIR NET (JRF or LS) /GPAT/ NBHM/ ICMR (JS) / ICAR (JS) or equivalent qualification can also apply.
