CSE and MNC courses in IIT Jammu are better than the IIT lower branches.
Placements: 2024-25 placement data has not been updated till now. The highest package is recorded off campus. In the year 2023-24, around 85-90% of students got placed. The placement cell is working hard to get us placed. Top recruiting companies for our course are Graviton, Samsung, MediaTek, Qualcomm, MathWorks, BP, L&T, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Deloitte, and Flipkart. 80% of students got internships in DRDO, Adobe, Samsung, T&P, etc. For the 2023-24 batch, the highest package is 53 LPA, and the average package ranges from 15-19 LPA. The lowest package is 9 LPA.
Infrastructure: C3i labs are highly equipped with the latest technology. It has new libraries, and a reading hall has been recently built. Classrooms are really huge and the biggest one has 160 seating capacity. We have Nescafe which is open on all days till 1 PM. We also have a canteen near the academic building. The food quality in the mess is not so good, but don't worry the breakfast here is always good, so students should not miss it. Medical facilities are available 24X7. Nearly every sports facility is present here, and we can literally explore a lot here.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. For the teaching quality, I would rate 4 out of 5. The course curriculum in the 1st and 2nd semesters includes some courses that are not related to our branch. The main departmental courses start from 3rd semester, so students can trust the process. We should keep hustling side by side to develop other skills. Semester exams are too easy, and we can easily get an 8.5 SGPA by studying one night before exams. The pass percentage varies usually, and it remains more than 90%.
Other: Our batch is competitive but supportive. We have each type of people here. I chose CSE in IIT Jammu because the average package is good enough for a fresher, even though it is a new IIT and still developing. The best thing about the course is that it is not too hectic and we will have time for other chores. We have an annual cultural fest named Anhad and an annual tech fest named Nexus. It organises an annual sports fest named Pravah. We will enjoy the campus, and events will keep us engaged.

It's a great place to live in with an amazing infrastructure and growing tech culture.
Placements: In our batch (third year) about 16/40 students got internships in companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Warner Bros, Samsung, etc. Even I got 2 internships as an SDE intern at WBD and the other as a 6-month summer intern (SWE role) at Amazon. The highest package till now in our senior batch is around 62 LPA which is an offer given by Atlassian.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is great. It gives a luxurious feel. A new academic block has been built this semester only, which has bigger AC classrooms and well-equipped labs. The campus has access to 24/7 Wi-Fi with good speed. Mess services are okay, could be worse. Sports culture is improving day by day.
Faculty: Majority of faculty members in the CSE department are good. They are very easily approachable since there are less number of students here compared to other IITs. Course curriculum is good, can be improved a bit, but it's okay, it makes students industry-ready if they are interested in tech. End sem exams are on the tougher side maintaining the standards of IIT, but going to class will help you a lot.
Other: I want to solve a big myth about IIT Jammu about it not being safe. It's completely safe, majorly everything that happens in the Kashmir side which is very far away from us. Jammu is a very safe city with very simple people so don't opt the idea of joining in here because it is in Jammu and Kashmir.

About Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu.
Placements: As per my information from seniors, more than 80% of students from CSE got placed. The highest package is around 54 LPA. The lowest is 9 LPA, and average package is 19 LPA. Top recruiters are Graviton, Paytm, Meesho, Nvidia, Amazon, etc. In the CSE department, 75% of the students got internships from some top colleges.
Infrastructure: For 1st and 2nd year students (boys) sharing a room is given (2 people per room). It is quite sufficient and we are given a bed, table, chair, and almirah. Wi-Fi facility is good and library is not too big. Classroom infrastructure is good with multiple boards and projector screens. Labs are also fully equipped. The food in the mess is edible and canteen service is not bad. Medical facilities are good and constructed new block dedicated only to sports with nice equipment.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and the quality of teaching is good. There are many useful courses and some courses which I feel are not required by a computer student to learn but are still there. Semester exams are medium difficult and pass percentage depends on the difficulty of the course.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in computers. The best thing about my course is that we get some nice information regarding computers. I wish they could teach some of the latest technologies in computers rather than making us study mechanics, and engineering materials which I believe are not at all required for a CS student. Campus crowd is not much so everyone gets a chance to get involved in extra-curriculars. Fests are held once a year.

IIT Jammu summarized comprehensively.
Placements: The placement percentage is 82%, exclusively conducted on campus. The average package stands at 17.68 LPA, with the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department boasting an average package of 24 LPA. Notable companies like Qualcomm, Amazon, Paytm, Infosys, and Nvidia participated in the placement drive. Internship opportunities are available from the third year onward, and faculty assigns projects in the third year, along with mini-projects starting from the second year.
Infrastructure: The campus is equipped with air-conditioned/theater classrooms, each accommodating around 150 students. These classrooms are furnished with projectors and green boards. A 5G Wi-Fi network covers the entire campus, providing a commendable speed of around 40mbps (as per speed tests). Modern labs, such as the chemistry lab, physics lab, mechanical workshop, and tinkering lab for innovation, are available. While the library is currently modest, there are plans for the construction of another library. Hostel rooms for first and second-year students are non-AC and double-occupied, transitioning to single-occupied AC rooms from the third year. The mess food is rated as average, with occasional lapses in quality, attributed to the perceived laziness of the mess committee. The campus offers various sports facilities, each with dedicated coaches, including football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, billiards, weightlifting, and athletics. The gym facilities are highly regarded, and a 24/7 medical unit with ambulance services is available.
Faculty: The faculty at IIT Jammu is described as very helpful and supportive. They utilize digital tools and projectors for teaching, complemented by some manual chalkboard instruction. The curriculum is deemed relevant, with no lab sessions skipped, contributing to students' preparedness for the industry. Semester exams are moderately tough, comprising class tests 1, mid-semesters, class tests 2, and end-semesters. The passing percentage is determined by the faculty and teaching assistants based on the overall performance of the batch.
Other: Despite being a 3rd generation IIT, fests and cultural activities are reported to be lackluster due to the small campus size and ongoing building phases.

One of the above average colleges in IIT Jammu.
Placements: I do not know but average package always lies between 18 LPA to 24 LPA. Around 85% of students get placed in CSE every year. The placements are good in CS branch while other branches have bad placements. We should get atleast 7.5 CG to get good placements. All students above are placed by considering their merit but not CG.
Infrastructure: Everything is fine but room cleaning is not so frequent. The mess doesn't provide non-veg because of some budget issues. But the food is okay and hygienic. The taste is not good but the quality is good. The 1st and 2nd year students have 2 shared rooms and 3rd and 4th year male students have 1 shared room with inbuilt air-conditioning.
Faculty: Whatever faculty members teach is not so much understandable to people who have language barriers like South Indian. I am a South Indian I personally think that teachers on Youtube teach way better than college teachers. So I always study on Youtube and attend classes only for attendance.
Other: They form communities and racism exists but no ragging in this college. Racism means all kinds of racism. But people act respectfully in front of all girls and other people. Most of the college people are good.
