For admission to its B.Ed programme, IGNOU has defined certain criteria. Only the students who fulfil the criteria are considered for the Indira Gandhi National Open University admission process. All students are advised to check the following entry requirements before applying for the course:
Academic Qualification:
- Completed a bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanities or a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks
- The university offers a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility criteria for SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/PWD candidates
- Apart from this, students following under the below-mentioned categories are eligible to apply:
- Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
- Candidates who have completed a NCTE-recognised teacher education programme through the Face-to-Face mode

The IGNOU B.Ed admission process comprises multiple steps, including the application, entrance test, seat allocation process and more. The guide mentioned below explains the steps to be followed to get into the course:
- Begin with Eligibility Check: As the first step, all the students interested in taking admission must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria stated by the university.
- Time to Apply: Eligible students must submit an entrance-cum-admission form. The form is made available on the university’s official website and costs INR 1,000. The steps to access and fill out the IGNOU B.Ed entrance test application form are as follows:
- Go to the online admission portal at https://eportal.ignou.ac.in/entrancebed/StudentRegistration.aspx.
- Fill in all the details appearing on the screen to register.
- Log in to the newly made account and start filling out the application form for the entrance test.
- Pay the IGNOU B.Ed application fees 2025, i.e., INR 1,000.
- Submit and download a copy of the application form for future reference.
- Entrance Test: Further, the university conducts the IGNOU B.Ed entrance test. This exam is conducted in offline mode. Moreover, the university also releases an admit card ahead of the test. All students must download and carry the IGNOU B.Ed admit card at the time of the examination. Those who wish to prepare for the exam must check out the syllabus and pattern.
- Seat Allocation Process: After the announcement of the IGNOU B.Ed exam results, the admission committee begins the selection process. Students are offered a B.Ed seat in order of their rank in the entrance test.
