IGNOU Library

The library of Indira Gandhi National Open University is the most resourceful information centre in the country in the field of Distance Education. The library has a huge collection of books, journals and other related materials in the field of Distance Education, throughout the country. It was established in 1986, in tune with the objectives of IGNOU. The primary mission of the library is to support the educational and research courses of the University by providing physical and intellectual access to information. Following the objectives of the University, the library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents, useful for the readers.

IGNOU operates through a three-tier system having University Headquarters at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi; Regional Centres & Learner Support Centres scattered all over the country. The library and documentation division is a hierarchical system with the Central Library at the Headquarters, followed by libraries located at Regional Centres (RCL) and Learner Support Centres (LSC). The Central Library of this university caters to the needs of Academic & Supportive staff and students at the headquarters.

Q:   Do classes take place in IGNOU?
A:
Yes, Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts its classes in its study centres, under the guidance of regional centres. However, IGNOU doesn't run any classes in the main campus. When a student registers for a course in IGNOU the student picks a Study Centre and a Regional Centre according to their choice. The books are obtained from the selected study centre. Also, IGNOU offers a facility called IGNOU Online' which gives its students an opportunity to study online for programmes and courses which are not available in the area where they live in.
Q:   When does IGNOU conduct practicals for term-end exams?
A:
According to the IGNOU Academic Year Calendar, the term end practicals were held in January and the next practical exam date will be released soon. Practical exams are held in the study centres only. These exams are conducted either a month before the theory exam or after the theory exam. These exams are not very tough and the questions are framed according to the topics taught in the lectures. So attend the lectures very seriously and prepare well in advance for the practicals.

Not good for placement and internship you will get only marksheet and provisional certificate.

Learning Experience: I decided to pursue my Graduation from History Honours from IGNOU university as I'm financially unstable, but the experience was very good. My course duration was 3 years and I did not face any difficulties whatsoever. I have submitted each and every assignments and done theory exams as well. Got my marksheet and provisional certificate this year.

I am absolutely satisfied with facilities.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our courses and departments is very good. It has high-speed Wi-Fi, clean labs, neat and clean classrooms and libraries. The quality of the food mess, canteen, medical facilities, sports, and games are very good. In labs, we do many types of experiments as well. The food in the mess is tasty, but sometimes it is disgusting.

Genius review of my college .

Infrastructure: The infrastructure and the facilities available for my course and department, like labs, classrooms, and the library, are all perfect. The college provides proper library facilities for students who want to study. Clean and pure drinking water is available for everyone, not just for teachers.
