IGNOU Admission Process 2026
IGNOU admission is primarily merit-based. Candidates can fill out the IGNOU 2026 application form after creating a DEB ID. The DEB ID is essential for all students. Step 1: IGNOU Application Process 2026
IGNOU application process is completely online. Aspirants fulfilling the eligibility requirements can fill out the form as and when the applications open.
Step 2: IGNOU Selection Rounds 2026
Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they've qualified. The university announces IGNOU results on the official website of the university. Followed by application, application fee payment and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.
The university reviews the admission forms submitted by the candidates. These forms are processed region-wise on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, the time required for the processing of forms for different regional centres may vary depending on the number of applicants from the respective region. However, the university claims that within two months, every student receives admission confirmation via email or on the student portal.
Step 3: IGNOU Admission Confirmation 2026
Once the university communicates that the student is shortlisted, students need to pay the course admission fee as per the IGNOU fee structure to confirm their seat at the university.
IGNOU offers fee exemptions and reimbursement facilities to students belonging to reserved categories, such as SC and ST. These students are eligible for Government of India Scholarships. Such students are advised to collect scholarship forms from the Directorate of Social Welfare or from the office of the Social Welfare Officer of their State. This form must be filled out and submitted to the Regional Director at the Regional Centre for necessary certification by the Regional Director.
IGNOU Fees 2026
IGNOU fee structure includes multiple components such as the tuition fee and one-time fee, etc. The registration fee is non-refundable. IGNOU accepts fee payment in online mode via credit card/debit card/net banking. After completion of the first year, students need to pay the IGNOU re-registration fee to register for the admission year till the course completion. IGNOU Fee Refund Policy 2026
IGNOU University has set limited provision for admission cancellation and fee refund. The registration fee is not refunded in any case. In a case where admission is denied by the university, the programme fee is refunded after the processing fee deduction. The amount is transferred to the source account. Candidates who are selected for admission need to confirm their seat by paying the course fee. Here are few things that students will recieve after taking admission in IGNOU:
- Once a students get admission into IGNOU, he or she will recieve the enrollment number and ID for future login to the samarth portal of the university.
- Based on the choice made by the candidate while filling the application form, he or she will then recieve the study material. Soft copy is available on the official website of the university.
- Registered students also recieve a mail from the regional or study centre for counselling. It is an induction ceremony where the course is introduced to the students.

For the IGNOU MBA course, the minimum aggregate is 50% (45% for reserved category candidates). Candidates must hold the pass certificates (original/ copies) at the time of admission. IGNOU BSc Admission 2026
IGNOU offers BSc courses in various specialisations such as Anthropology, Biochemistry, Applied Science-Energy, Food Safety & Quality Management, Mathematics, etc. at the UG level. The university also offers BSc (Hons) across a few specialisations and a PB BSc Nursing programme. The minimum course completion duration is three years and the maximum duration is six years. Aspirants who have completed Class 12 can apply for BSc programme.
