Berlin universities don't have on-campus residences.
Tips: I had a huge culture shock. Public universities don't give scholarships because there are no tuition fees. Not sure about private universities due to a lack of knowledge. I am very satisfied with the country as enough things that are better than India, although it's not easy to live abroad.
Likes (Part time work): I did a part-time job as a student assistant at a Berlin University. These are available, but one has to spend a substantial amount of time looking for them. They usually pay a minimum salary, about 550 in 2025. Otherwise there are jobs at bars, cafes, food delivery, etc.
I'm unable to comment on the current conditions of part-time jobs outside of a university setting because of a lack of experience.
Dislikes (Safety): Berlin is usually a safe city. Campus security is available only during working hours. Berlin universities don't have on-campus residences. Students live in the city, off-campus, in or outside student housing. Security facilities are the same for students as for non-students - police, fire department, etc. Students have many opportunities available for taking care of their mental and physical well-being at very affordable prices. Always been helped when I've asked for it. Sometimes even when I was too shy to ask. Usually people don't judge based on appearances, clothing, etc. One has to be careful with phones, parking a bike, etc. In 10 years of living here, my phone was stolen once.
