Blocked Account:

One of the most important steps an applicant should consider to start their study abroad journey in Germany is to have a Blocked Account. This is a kind of account required for covering the cost of living in Germany while studying MS. As of 2025, the amount international students are required to have is approximately INR 10 - 11 L. The money is released monthly to cover the basic daily expenses like rent, transportation, meals, supplies, personal costs, etc. Without the presence of a blocked account, the German student's VISA application would be rejected. 

Germany Study Visa

Candidates going to study in Germany would require a German Student Visa for their entire duration of stay. The student visa would also allow students access to part-time work for 20 hours a week for the entire duration of the study or 120 full or 240 half days per year. Candidates should note that on completion of their study, they would be allowed an eighteen-month (18 months) post-study period to find employment in their field of study. Students will have to pay around EUR 110 (INR 11.2 K) as a visa application fee. Generally, the processing time for a Residence Permit visa is 3 months (8 to 12 weeks).

2. Most universities require GMAT/GRE scores for admission
3. To pursue an MS in Germany, students must appear in the following proficiency tests:

4. A minimum of 2 years of work experience (subject to the university admission criteria) is required to get enrolled in German universities. However, it’s not always mandatory.

Some universities offer German-taught programs, which require international students to have some basic understanding and knowledge of the German Language. The basic eligibility needed is DSH-2 TestDaF Level 4 in all sections or Goethe C2. Some universities also allow C1/B1/B2 for application at the time of enrollment. For English-taught programs, applicants are required to provide proof of English language proficiency through test scores like IELTS (6.5-7.0 overall) or TOEFL iBT (90-95+). Some universities may also offer bilingual programs where some modules would be taught in English and the rest in German. MS in Germany Work Permit

Indian students who have attained their MBBS in Germany are eligible to work in Germany after their studies. International students can work for up to 18 months as part of their post-study work permit in Germany. This extended period of 18 months is called a post-study work permit in Germany. During these 18 months, students can do any type of work to support themselves in Germany. Once these students secure a relevant job to their qualifications, applicants can apply for a long-term residence permit or an EU Blue Card.
