To get a high score on the TOEFL iBT in 2026, you must use the right TOEFL sample papers. Starting January 21, 2026, the test is changing a lot. You cannot just use old books because the tasks are different. The new TOEFL 2026 format is a shorter test and an adaptive test. This means the computer changes the questions based on how you answer at the start.

If you want a high score, you need to practice new tasks like Complete the Words in the Reading part and Build a Sentence in the Writing part. The Speaking section is also new with Listen and Repeat and Take an Interview tasks. Using official sample papers for 2026 helps you understand the new 1–6 band scale so you know exactly what score you will get.

Conducted by ETS, the TOEFL exam is important for students looking to study in colleges that require a mandatory TOEFL Score. In this article, we are going to discuss TOEFL Practice Test, TOEFL Mock Test, and TOEFL sample test papers with answers PDF. Candidates planning to register for the TOEFL test would be required to pay INR 17,999 for both formats of the test, TOEFL iBT and TOEFL at Home.

TOEFL Exam Pattern 2026

Starting January 21, 2026, the TOEFL iBT Exam Pattern is moving to a much faster, adaptive format. The total test time is being slashed to approximately 90 minutes (67–85 minutes depending on your performance). This new pattern focuses on "real-world" campus English rather than just long academic lectures.

Key Changes in the TOEFL 2026 Pattern

  • Multistage Adaptive Testing: The Reading and Listening sections now adjust their difficulty. Your performance in the first half (Module 1) determines the difficulty of the second half (Module 2).

  • New Scoring Scale: You will receive a Band Score of 1.0 to 6.0 (in 0.5 increments), which aligns with the CEFR levels.

  • No Scheduled Break: Because the test is significantly shorter, the 10-minute break between sections has been removed.

  • Revised Section Order: The test now follows this order: Reading → Listening → Writing → Speaking.

TOEFL Section-by-Section Breakdown

Candidates can expect their TOEFL scores to be announced 4-8 days after the day of the examination. The results would be made available online for the convenience of the aspirant. Printed reports are mailed 11 days after the test date. After that, candidates must allow at least 7 to 10 days for the hard copy of the TOEFL score to reach them. This process can’t be hurried as ETS has no control over the delivery of the mail. The TOEFL scores will be valid for two years.

Hello Nikhil. Hope you are doing well. I seem to have overlooked your comment and my apologies for the same. I am guessing you have got your results by now. Reading the question out loud should not ideally affect your TOEFL test scores.
