  • A testing issue has happened according to the test administrator/proctor.

GMAT Testing Accommodations

On the GMAT exam date, if a student is unable to take the exam, they can apply for the GMAT exam accommodation. Students must note that they should not book their GMAT exam appointment till they receive approval for GMAT testing accommodation. Students are eligible for testing accommodations on both testing patterns.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   If I have booked a slot at the GMAT test center, can I transfer the registration to the online version?
A:

If a candidate has booked a slot at the test center it cannot be rescheduled to a different mode for that attempt. Candidates need to book the GMAT online exam again to attempt the test online. When it comes to GMAT slot booking, we advise that candidates show caution. Before you decide your GMAT exam date, make sure to go through the different study abroad intakes, MBA or MIM admission deadlines, your current GMAT preparation level, time required to reach your desired GMAT score, time required to prepare your admission documents (SOP, LORs, Admission Essays, etc.), etc.

Q:   How to apply for GMAT testing accommodations?
A:

The following points provide details of testing accommodations:

  • Create your profile on the official GMAT website. Do not register for the GMAT exam until you receive a final decision on your testing accommodation.
  • Read the GMAT handbook and the GMAT Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities.
  • Collect the required documents for the following disabilities (as the case may be):
    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
    • Learning and Cognitive Disabilities
    • Physical/Systemic Disabilities
    • Psychological Disabilities
    • Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Blind/Low Vision
  • Visit the 'Apply for Accommodations' option and submit your request by attaching the relevant documents. Once you submit the request, you will receive a confirmation email. Your request will also be available on your official GMAT account within 24 hours. GMAC may take around 16-20 business days to revert. Under certain circumstances, it might take longer as well.
  • With the help of GMAT testing accommodations, you may receive additional time, rest breaks, a reader to read, a recorder to record your answers, etc. depending on your request and situation.

If the testing accommodations were approved in the last 2 years and if the documents provided by a candidate still hold relevance, a student need not submit the documents again. He/she can just apply for the Accommodation Request Form.

Q:   Do I need to renew my approval for the GMAT testing accommodations for every GMAT exam attempt?
A:

Those who have already booked the GMAT exam and have got the approval for GMAT testing accommodations need not apply for it again for their subsequent GMAT exams as the approval for accommodations is typically valid for two years. In case if your GMAT testing accommodation approval has expired, you need to visit the Testing Accommodation pages and apply for the accommodations. You must complete the form and mention that you had received an approval earlier. It is advised that the students attach their original decision letter as a part of their fresh request.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the difference between taking GMAT exam at test centre and online?
A:

Let us understand the difference between the GMAT test centre and onlne below:

  • GMAT Online is conducted 24/7 and registrations can happen 24 hours before the preferred exam slot. On the other hand GMAT at test centre also allows 24 hours before registration but slots are limited and last minute slots can be unavailable.
  • GMAT Online is more expensive than GMAT at test centre. GMAT Online costs USD 300+taxes and GMAT at test centre costs USD 275+taxes.
  • When appearing for GMAT at home (online), applicants can access an online whiteboard or have a physical whiteboard. Whereas, at the test centre, applicants get laminated sheets and dry eraser.

This is how the two modes of GMAT exams differ from one another. Rest other aspects remain the same.

Q:   How many times is GMAT online exam conducted versus GMAT at test centre?
A:

The frequency of both the modes of GMAT exam - online and test centre are available all around the year. However, there are some points to consider:

  • GMAT Online is available 24/7 on all days of the month and registrations can be last made 24 hours before the chosen time slot.
  • GMAT at test centre is available on almost all dates of a month. But here the time slots are limited, because of which last minute slot booking can be difficult (that is 24 hours before).
  • Also, the registration fee for GMAT Online is slightly higher than GMAT at test centre and there is no late registration fee for last minute registrations.

Thus, applicants must assess their options and time frame they have and then register for either of the two based on convenience.
