How to Register for IELTS exam - Offline

IELTS Exam Registration Method - 2 (Offline)

  • In the second method, candidates would be required to fill out the application form available at the IDP office/ Input Node

Cancellation or Rescheduling of IELTS Exam

In this section, we are going to be discussing the Cancellation and Rescheduling of the IELTS Exam.

Rescheduling your IELTS Exam

Candidates who wish to change their test date or reschedule their IELTS registration are required to raise a request for a test day transfer at least five weeks before their already booked test date. Also, the new test date must be within three months of the original test date. Candidates need to pay an administrative charge of INR 3,300 inclusive of all taxes for the transfer of the test date.

IELTS Cancellation

  • If you cancel your IELTS application more than five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus a 25% administrative fee.
  • If you cancel the IELTS exam less than five weeks ahead of the test date, you will receive no refund.
  • In case you fail to appear for the test, then you will not receive any refund. This is also considered a cancellation.

Those who can produce a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date can receive a refund after deducting the local administrative cost.

IELTS Re-Attempts

Apart from this, candidates can also reattempt the exam whenever they want. As there is no limit to giving the IELTS test, candidates can take the IELTS exam as many times as they want or till they reach their dream score. However, every time the candidate has to pay the IELTS registration fee INR 17,000. Candidates need to go through the IDP IELTS registration every time they want to take the test. 

Q:   Can I reschedule my IELTS exam?

Candidates would be issued a second Test Report Form (TRF) with the updated IELTS scores of the IELTS One Skill Retake along with the scores for the other three skills in the original test. IELTS on Computer vs IELTS on Paper (CBT vs PBT)

The IELTS exam is open to all and there are no specific eligibility criteria. The respective institutes may have different eligibility criteria but the IELTS has no specific selection criteria. The IELTS test is recommended for candidates who are 16 years and above.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for IELTS?

There is no specific eligibility criterion for taking the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam. It is open to individuals of all ages and educational backgrounds who wish to demonstrate their English language proficiency. Whether you are a student, a professional, or someone seeking immigration or work opportunities in English-speaking countries, you are eligible to take the IELTS. There are no prerequisites such as educational qualifications, age restrictions, or prior language learning experience. The IELTS is accessible to anyone who wants to showcase their English language proficiency. However, it is preferable that students above the age of 16 appear for the exam. 

Q:   What are the different types of IELTS?

A:

The IELTS exam is available in two formats. They are the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Conducted by IDP, in the IELTS exam there are four papers Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The Speaking and Listening tests are the same in both formats of the IELTS exam, but the Reading and Writing tests are different. Both the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training evaluate the listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in the English language of the candidates. The IELTS Academic test is suitable for candidates looking to study in an English-speaking environment or university (higher education). The IELTS General Training test is suitable for candidates who are looking to migrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK among other countries.

Hello Tajkia. I would highly recommend that you opt for books/ study material that is available on the official website of IDP - the conducting body of the IELTS exam. The books would have the latest syllabus and cover everything you would need to know to ace your IELTS exam.
