Q:   What are the rankings of Engineering colleges in India?

Q:   What is the difference government and private engineering colleges?

A:
The major difference that you will find between private and government engineering colleges is credibility. Yes you heard it right. Now you may ask credibility for what. Well that will depend on a number of factors. 1. No tension of placements - Students of Govt. Engineering Colleges have a better shot at securing good jobs. So we are least bothered about securing our future hence most of us go for entrepreneurships and startups. 2. Government Colleges attracts brighter minds - If you happen to find Startup Founder and CEO's in reputed firms coming from Govt. Colleges then don't be surprised. They form the creamy layer of engineers. 3.Don't know much about private colleges but we here have to fight( literally) to get internals. No re exams are scheduled. So a back means a back. 4.Lots of workshops and technical fest- They take place each and every month. And are very insightful , although I prefer to stay away from them. 5.Bragging about studying in good gov't college- This might be a case in freshman year. But it dies out slowly as you reach your pre final and final year. 6.Financial Freedom- There is a huge difference in the college fees of pvt. and gov't colleges. You have to pay around Rs.10k for a semester where a normal pvt. Institute charges a hefty 70-80k per semester. So we have some financial freedom in terms of spending money on some leisures

Q:   Is BTech only for IIT?

A:

No, a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree is not exclusive to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). While the IITs are prestigious engineering institutions in India that offer BTech programs, there are numerous other engineering colleges and universities across the country that also provide BTech degrees. These institutions vary in terms of reputation, faculty, infrastructure, and other factors.

Students can pursue BTech in various engineering disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and more. The admission criteria, curriculum, and quality of education may differ among institutions.

It's important for students to research and consider factors such as accreditation, faculty qualifications, facilities, industry connections, and placement records when choosing an engineering college for pursuing a BTech degree. Many well-established universities outside of the IIT system offer high-quality engineering education as well.

Q:   How many times can one appear for JEE Mains?

A:

Candidates can appear for a total 6 times in JEE Mains. The number of attempts is calculated from the year of passing class 12. For example, if a candidate have passed class 12 in 2023, he/she can appear in both attempts of 2023 as well of both attempts of JEE Main 2024 and 2025.

If a candidate opts not to appear in the exam in a year/session, that attempt will forfeit. For example if a candidate who passed class 12 in 2023 but did not appear in JEE Mains in 2023, he/she will have four attempts remaining in 2024 and 2025.

As candidates have a plenty of attempts (six), it is advised to prepare well for the exam and then appear in the exam. Appearing in the exam without proper preparation could effect the performance.

Q:   Should I take a year drop or join a private engineering college?

A:

It's better to take admission in any UG college than to drop out for a year. Based on your score, if you just miss getting into the top IITs or NITs, I suggest you work hard for one more year. However, this does not happen for most students; only around 5-10% are successful. There are many top private institutions that are far better than some of the NITs, such as BITS, VIT, MIT, and others.

Also on the other hand, taking a year off can provide you with time to gain experience, explore your interests, or improve your skills. On the other hand, joining a private engineering college may offer a structured learning environment and the opportunity to begin your studies sooner.
