How to Book a GMAT 2023 Slot?

Let us say that your University application deadline is 1st November.

How to Choose a GMAT Exam Date 2023?

GMAT aspirants should register for the GMAT slot at least two to three months prior to their preferred GMAT test date. Candidates can also register up to six months in advance.

Learn how much time you need to prepare for the GMAT test 2023
Check the deadline of your graduate business school where you are seeking admission. Moreover, you need to have sufficient time to prepare your application documents such as an SOP, admissions essays, etc.
Take the GMAT test at least 6 months prior to the application (B-school) deadline
Schedule your GMAT test online or via phone

Make sure to keep the timeline in such a way that if you have to give the GMAT test again then you have time to prepare and take the GMAT test.

Can I Retake GMAT 2023 Exam?

Another important point to keep in mind about the unique GMAT is that an applicant cannot appear for this exam more than 5 times in a 12-month rolling period. In addition, one can attempt this exam for a maximum of 8 times in a lifetime. In case a candidate wants to reschedule or cancel the GMAT exam, the process will attract a fee or cost.

GMAT Cancellation Fee 2023

If a candidate cancels the GMAT test 2023 more than 60 days before the appointment, he/she will be charged $165 ($110 refund) in the case of the test centre GMAT exam and $180 ($120 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. If GMAT cancellation is done 15-60 days before the GMAT appointment date, a candidate will be charged $195 ($80 refund) in the case of the test centre GMAT and $210 ($90 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. If the same is done 1-14 days before the GMAT exam date, $220 ($55 refund) will be charged in the case of a test centre GMAT exam and $240 ($60 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home.

GMAT Rescheduling Fee 2023

Rescheduling of the GMAT test can be done in two ways online and through the phone. Rescheduling can be done more than 60 days before the exam by paying a $55 fee in the case of a test centre GMAT exam and $60 in the case of an online GMAT exam at home. Also, if you wish to reschedule your exam 15-60 days before the GMAT exam date, then you would be charged $110 in the case of a test centre GMAT exam and $120 in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. If you want to reschedule the GMAT exam 1-14 days before the GMAT appointment, you can do so by paying $165 in the case of a test centre GMAT and $180 in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. The GMAT exam cannot be rescheduled on the test date. If a candidate reschedules the exam by phone then he has to pay a $10 surcharge.

Testing Accommodations on the GMAT Test Date

On the GMAT exam date, if a student feels that he/she is unable to take the GMAT exam under the standard situation, he/she may apply for the GMAT exam accommodations. Students need to note that they should not book their GMAT exam appointment until they receive approval for the GMAT testing accommodation. Students are eligible for the GMAT testing accommodations for the online and test centre GMAT exams, both.1

The following points provide details of testing accommodations:

Create your profile on the official GMAT website. Do not register for the GMAT exam until you receive a final decision on your testing accommodation.
Read the GMAT handbook and the GMAT Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities.
Collect the required documents for the following disabilities (as the case may be):
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Learning and Cognitive Disabilities
- Physical/Systemic Disabilities
- Psychological Disabilities
- Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Blind/Low Vision
Visit the ‘Apply for Accommodations’ option and submit your request by attaching the relevant documents. Once you submit the request, you will receive a confirmation email. Your request will also be available on your official GMAT account within 24 hours. GMAC may take around 16-20 business days to revert. Under certain circumstances, it might take longer as well.
With the help of GMAT testing accommodations, you may receive additional time, rest breaks, a reader to read, a recorder to record your answers, etc. depending on your individual request and situation.

If the testing accommodations were approved in the last 2 years and if the documents provided by a candidate still hold relevance, a student need not submit the documents again. He/she can just apply for the Accommodation Request Form.

GMAT Focus Edition registrations opened on August 29, 2023. The current version of the GMAT will be available until early 2024. Candidates were able to register for both the GMAT exam formats from August 29, 2023 onwards.

Q. What is the best time to give the GMAT test?

A. Although, there is no perfect time to appear for the GMAT, however, one should have the GMAT score results with him/her at the time of filing the application. GMAT exam scores are valid for 5 years. There are a few factors that play an important role in the decision of your GMAT exam date. These include study abroad intakes, MBA or MIM admission deadlines, your current GMAT preparation level, and the time required to prepare admission documents (statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, resume, admission essays, etc.). Your study abroad journey typically takes about 10-12 months. Hence, the earlier you get a good score on the GMAT exam 2023, the more time you will have to prepare other admission documents.

Q. In which month is the GMAT conducted?

A. The GMAT exam, supposed to be taken at a GMAT test centre, is available up to 7 days a week. The online GMAT exam, which can be taken at home, is available around the clock. GMAT exam (test centre and online) can be booked up to 6 months in advance. The cost of the GMAT exam delivered at a test centre is $275 and the cost of the GMAT exam delivered online is $300. It is important for the students to be aware of the different study abroad intakes, admission deadlines, etc. before booking their GMAT exam date 2023.

Q. What is GMAT slot booking?

A. GMAT Slot Booking refers to the process of reserving a seat to take the GMAT Exam on a specific date and time at a designated test centre or online. Candidates need to create an account on the official GMAT website, and book a slot for the GMAT exam 2023. Candidates can check and select the available test date, test time and select the nearest test centre for giving the GMAT exam. It is advisable to book a slot well in advance or ahead of time.

Q. How many times can I appear for the GMAT exam?

A. A candidate can appear for the GMAT exam for a maximum of 5 times in a 12-month period. There must be a gap of at least 16 calendar days between successive GMAT exam attempts. Moreover, he/she can appear for the GMAT exam for a maximum of 8 times in his/her lifetime. It is important for the students to prepare for the GMAT exam in their first attempt. If they keep on retaking the GMAT exam, they might miss the MBA admission deadlines. Hence, GMAT exam dates must be planned carefully so that other aspects of MBA admissions are not neglected.

Q. Can I reschedule my GMAT exam?

A. GMAT exam can be rescheduled; however, the process will involve some cost. If you reschedule your GMAT exam more than 60 days prior to the GMAT exam appointment, you will have to pay $55 for the test centre GMAT exam and $60 for the online GMAT exam at home. If you reschedule your GMAT exam 15-60 days prior to the GMAT exam date, you will have to pay $110 for the test centre GMAT and $120 for the online GMAT exam at home. If you reschedule your GMAT exam 1-14 days prior to the GMAT exam date, you will have to pay $165 for the test centre GMAT exam and $180 for the online GMAT exam at home.

Q. Can I cancel my GMAT exam?

A. If a candidate cancels the GMAT exam more than 60 days before the GMAT exam date, he/she will be charged $165 ($110 refund) in the case of the test centre GMAT and $180 ($120 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. If GMAT exam cancellation is done 15-60 days before the GMAT exam date, a candidate will be charged $195 ($80 refund) in the case of the test centre GMAT and $210 ($90 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home. If the GMAT exam cancellation is done 1-14 days before the GMAT exam date, $220 ($55 refund) will be charged in the case of a test centre GMAT exam and $240 ($60 refund) in the case of the online GMAT exam at home.

Q. How long does it take to study for the GMAT exam 2023?

A. One needs to have a strategy to prepare for the GMAT exam. One needs to study at least 3-6 months or approximately 120 hours to study for the GMAT. Apart from the regular study books, one needs to go through the practice papers as well. Here are a few tips that will help a candidate prepare for the GMAT 2023 exam:

Familiarize yourself with the GMAT exam syllabus and pattern.
Study the official GMAT study material and prepare short notes from it.
Make full use of online forums such as GMAT Club, Beat the GMAT, etc.
Appear for GMAT mock tests.

Q. Can I prepare for the GMAT test in 10 days?

A. 10 days is too short a time to prepare for the GMAT test. One needs to develop quant and verbal skills along with analytical skills to score a decent GMAT score and one needs to prepare for at least 3-4 months to acquire these skills. That being said, if you are pressed for time and would still like to prepare for the GMAT in 10 days, you may go through the exam pattern and the exam syllabus first. You can then memorize all the formulae and understand the concepts. If possible, try to solve the GMAT OG and appear for at least 4 full-length GMAT mock tests. Students must note that the aforementioned advice is not a replacement for appropriate study time.

Q. Can you provide me details of the availability of the official GMAT score?

A. Your unofficial GMAT exam score will be available immediately after your GMAT exam. It will not contain your AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) score. Your official GMAT score will be available in your official GMAT account on mba.com in 7 business days (sometimes it might take up to 20 business days). Your official GMAT score will contain your AWA score as well. If you wish to obtain an Enhanced Score Report, you will have to pay $30 in the case of a GMAT exam held at a test centre.

Q. How many GMAT scores can I send to programmes for free?

A. In the case of a GMAT exam held at a GMAT test centre, you can select up to 5 programmes that will receive your official GMAT score report for no additional cost. Make sure that you have done sufficient research about the universities, programmes, career outcomes, etc. If you wish to send your GMAT score to more programmes, they can be sent by paying $35 per report. In the case of an online GMAT exam, you can send 5 free GMAT score reports within 48 hours of receiving your official GMAT score report. If you wish to go beyond these 5 free reports, you will have to pay $35 per report.
