Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is 1 month enough for preparing for my PTE exam?
A:

Your PTE exam preparation depends upon how consistently you prepare for it. You need to practice daily to polish your English language skills, read articles, and immersive yourself thoroughly into the language to get a better preparation outcome before your exam.

Your total exam preparation time also depends upon your previous knowledge of the language and how good are your basics in English. Remember, good basics are the key to solving any English exam question.

Candidates are advised to prepare for the PTE Academic exam before booking their test slot. Hence, candidates who have appeared for their PTE Academic exam before or who are well prepared for the exam can use the one month for revision and appear for the test. Others would definitely need a more substantial amount of time to be well-versed in the exam.

Q:   Can I take the PTE test every month?
A:

You can appear for PTE Academic exam every month but by adhering to the conditions below-

  1. One person can retake the test only after they have received scores from their previous PTE test.
  2. Anyone can take the PTE test for a maximum of 12 times in a period of 12 months. If you have taken the test 12 times within a period of 6 months, - you will have to wait for another 6 months for being able to book another test date.

Apart from this, there is no condition for appearing in PTE exam. Keep in mind -  retaking the exam is not a bad thing but preparing well for the exam is what is required.

Q:   What is PTE exam fee in India in 2026?
A:

The current PTE Exam fee in India for 2026 is INR 18,900, inclusive of 18% taxes. This covers your test and score reporting. Sending digital scorecards to universities is free. Test takers can send their PTE test scores to as many universities as they like without having to pay any extra charges - a facility that is not currently available in any of the other English language proficiency exams.

Q:   Can I make 2 My PTE accounts for registration?
A:

No, making two My PTE accounts is not acceptable by the Pearson PLC Group for security reasons. The conducting body of the exam recommends that eve if you accidentally make two separate My PTE accounts, then you should merge them both before making an appointment.

Common Misconceptions About PTE Exam Registration Process

There are two common misconceptions among students that-

  1. They have to pay an extra late fee to book the exam up to 24 hours in advance, and

However neither of these is true. There is no extra fee to register for the PTE exam. And a valid ID, generally your passport, is required only at the test centre on your exam day.

The PTE test slot can be booked up to 24 hours in advance via the "My PTE Portal". After the test takers have chosen their desired date and time at a nearby Pearson authorised PTE test centre, they must pay the PTE exam fee of INR 18,900 to finalise their PTE test slot booking.

PTE Registration 2026 FAQs

Check the PTE Registration 2026 FAQs below.

Q:   Is PTE harder than IELTS?
A:

Both the tests can be hard or easy for test takers based on their individual level of English proficiency. The two exams differ entirely in terms of their scoring, exam pattern, testing pattern, question types, question count and set up.

The PTE exam includes integrated skills tasks that test more than one communicative skills at a time; plus the speaking section of teh PTE exam is tested in one single session along with the other sections of the test. This is quite opposite in the IELTS test, where a separate session needs to be taken for the speaking part and it happens with an examiner. Unlike the IELTS, the PTE exam is said to be conducted and marked with zero bias as an AI scoring engine which is trained for over 65+ accents is used to score these tests. The results are faster and booking can also be done 24 hours before the exam. So, test takers can take the exam when they are actually ready.

Q:   Under what circumstances will I get no refund on cancelling my PTE exam slot?
A:
