PTE Exam Booking Process 2026

There are two common misconceptions among students that-

  1. they have to pay an extra late fee to book the exam up to 24 hours in advance, and
  2. they have to  submit their passport details at the time of registering for the PTE exam.

However, neither of these is true. There is no extra fee to register for the PTE exam. And a valid ID, which is generally your passport, is required only at the test centre on your exam day.

The PTE test slot can be booked up to 24 hours in advance via the "My PTE Portal". After the candidate has chosen their desired date and time at a nearby Pearson Group authorised test center, they must pay the PTE exam fee of INR 18,000 to finalise their registration for the PTE test.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is 1 month enough for preparing for my PTE exam?
A:

Your PTE exam preparation depends upon how consistently you prepare for it. You need to practice daily to polish your English language skills, read articles, and immersive yourself thoroughly into the language to get a better preparation outcome before your exam.

Your total exam preparation time also depends upon your previous knowledge of the language and how good are your basics in English. Remember, good basics are the key to solving any English exam question.

Candidates are advised to prepare for the PTE Academic exam before booking their test slot. Hence, candidates who have appeared for their PTE Academic exam before or who are well prepared for the exam can use the one month for revision and appear for the test. Others would definitely need a more substantial amount of time to be well-versed in the exam.

A:

The current fee in India is INR 18,000, inclusive of 18% taxes. This covers your test and score reporting. Sending digital scorecards to universities is free. Q:   Can I make 2 My PTE accounts for registration?
A:

No, making two My PTE accounts is not acceptable by the Pearson PLC Group for security reasons. The conducting body of the exam recommends that eve if you accidentally make two separate My PTE accounts, then you should merge them both before making an appointment.

PTE Test Accommodations/ Special Arrangements

Pearson PTE Group is dedicated to ensuring equal access for all test takers by accommodating various special requirements. These are often referred to as "special arrangements" or "accommodations" for individuals with disabilities by Pearson PTE.
All PTE test centres comply with the local disability laws to ensure smooth test administration on the exam day.  Here is the list of special needs/requirements that can be availed of via "special arrangements":

  • A separate testing room
  • Extra testing time
  • A Reader or Recorder
  • Wheelchair access
  • lamp, magnifying glass, or an adjustable test station and chair
  • 10-minute break
  • Extra time (up to 25% of the total test time)

How can Candidates Request a Test Accommodation?

Candidates with special needs must mention their need for the same at the time of My PTE account creation. After the account creation and completion of the profile, concerned candidates will be asked to fill out a form with their details. Pearson Group suggests that test takers must complete this process at least 6 weeks before their due exam date. This will allow the exam administering committee enough time to make accommodations.

Do note that you may be asked to submit additional documents during the period of processing of your application, which may further increase the duration to more than 6 weeks. Further, test takers who are unsure of their eligibility for accommodations are advised to contact the support team. The Pearson customer support team reserves the right to verify the proof you provide for your disability and also provide support to book your test.

A:

The Pearson PLC Group aims to accommodate students with special requirements and/or special needs by constantly working and expanding the available accommodations based on the request they receive each year. However, for a special request to be considered, there are some set parameters for the medical evidences to be presented by the students.

Accommodations like a short break, some extra time or a separate room will only be granted if the medical proofs/documents submitted by the students meet the following criteria:

  4. The letter must be written in English.
Q:   When should the request for "special requirements" be raised before taking the PTE exam?
A:

On meeting certain eligibility criteria, the request for "special requirement" should be raised while creating an account on the "my PTE" portal. On completing the account information (profile), the students will be asked to fill out an additional form and attach all the medical certificates and evidence they have to prove their claim for special request. Thereafter, the customer support team from the Pearson PTE exam will verify each case and then reach out to the candidates with special requests and book their slots. Candidates must note that they must fill out the special request form 6 weeks before taking the PTE exam. This will leave enough room for the authorities to timely process your request.

Tips to Book PTE Exam and Avoid Common Mistakes

Here are some mistakes that must be strictly prohibited by the PTE test takers, as recommended by Pearson itself:

  1. Do not make two PTE accounts. Pearson suggests, that you are caught with two exam bookings, booked from two different accounts simultaneously, then you must merge them before the test.
  2. Enter the same spelling of your name and other details as there are in your passport. If your registered details are found to be different than the ones on your passport then you won't be allowed to enter the PTE exam centre on the test day.
  3. Book your PTE exam slot at least 1 month ago to get a test centre and time slot most suitable for you. As the slots get filled up fast, you must not compromise on saving the most convenient slot for yourself.
