Things I wish someone had told me when I came for the first time
Tips: 1) Take part in the Freshers’ Week without fail (good way to find friends).
2) Never forget to check your university portals.
3) In case you have doubts regarding anything, visit the FSR or Studienberatung.
4) Make plans and stick to them.
5) Flexibility is fine here, but as an Indian who was always told what to do since his schooling days, it was difficult for me to adjust to this freedom.
Likes (Safety): Personally, I haven't faced any type of charm or issues on campus. I'm not really aware of any other facilities for student safety, but there are always helplines and representatives for issues like these. There is Student counselling to talk about struggles at university, and the Studentenwerk also ensures that students don't have any trouble in their living space. Therefore, they have their own psychosocial counselling and international offices who can also communicate in English for international students.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Although there are many Indian restaurants, they are not really Indian because these restaurants have adapted to the taste of the Germans. In that case, Indian cuisine in such restaurants, when you go searching for an Indian restaurant, becomes very hard to find. The Indian restaurant I will suggest to people is Madras Kitchen. Since I am from the southern part of India, I feel the cuisine in their restaurant is authentic, and the level of their spiciness depends on the taste of Indians. Although they are expensive, the prices are justified by the food, and I wouldn’t mind spending time in their restaurant. But as a student, I can’t go there because they charge me 20 to 25 Euros per head.

Perfect university and a balanced student life
Tips: It's really a nice university and a good place for students. The major drawback is that most of the people here don't speak any English, so it's quite hard to get by without German. This may also affect the job opportunities, as they require fluent German skills (even in part-time jobs). As a student, I am satisfied with the university. However, as a person who seeks a job, I may not give it a good score.
Likes (Public transportation): I really love the connectivity here. Buses & trams are always on time and are available throughout the day. I especially like the idea of rental bikes (cycles), which is a lifesaver option for students. For students, public transport expenses are covered by the semester contribution fee, and after that we have to buy tickets (which cost 3.6u20ac/Hr or less with a monthly pass).
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post-study jobs are limited in bio-related core fields. However, it is quite famous for other engineering-related jobs (Computer Modulation and Simulation, Nano Electric Science, etc.). This offers a good package here. Full-time as well as part-time jobs are also limited, as most of them require fluent German language skills, English-speaking jobs are rarely available.

TU Dresden - Computational Modelling and Simulation
Tips: The indian community of Dresden is strong and will help new students move in. I applied for the SECAI and Deutschland Stipendum scholarship but did not get either of them. The university is big, the course is specific and has mandatory modules, which makes it difficult, and the country is nice for the salary, but the people are not friendly.
Likes (Public transportation): Good connections all across the city. One can take buses, trams, and trains. The semester contribution includes 6 months of tickets for all regional transport across Germany. Most buses run at a frequency of 2 times per hour, which is not a lot, but manageable.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Limited faculty, and Teaching style is very personal to them and not tailored to the subject taught. Mandatory courses make the course difficult to pass. Mostly, all teachers are from Germany, with very few exceptions. All pros. Use slides to teach and give material to prepare.

From the city of Dresden!
Tips: The prospective candidates should be aware that TU Dresden runs on a high level of academic independence. There will be no spoon-feeding, and you have to organize all your coursework, sign up for your examinations, and decide upon your research topics independently, as a majority of programs for master's degrees in engineering and sciences are conducted in English. It is extremely important to learn the German language as it will be necessary for your everyday life, for getting things sorted out with the city administration, and for gaining industrial internships outside the university campus. Also, the academic advantage of using the Dresden concept network with leading research centers like Fraunhofer, Max Planck, and Leibniz next door cannot be overstated.
Dislikes (Internships): Securing a position depends almost entirely on individual initiative rather than university-led placement. While the central career service and campus career fairs provide useful self-service job portals and resume workshops, personalized guidance for finding and applying to roles is quite passive.

High standard of education, Excellent quality of the studies, Very international University.
Tips: Focus on enjoying student life alongside your studies. Grades are not everything; what really matters is what you actually learn and how you can apply it in practice. Learn the language, do some part-time work, meet new people, and take advantage of as many opportunities as you can. It will give you much more exposure and make your overall experience much more valuable.
Likes (Indian Food): There are quite a few Indian restaurants here, and even Mensa (the student cafeteria) sometimes has Indian options. There are a good number of Indian grocery stores, so you can find almost everything you need if you wanna cook at home. Additionally, from time to time, Indian organizations organize Indian events, they also offer traditional food.
Dislikes (Internships): You have to put in the effort yourself to find the opportunities. The university name helps a lot because its a well-known and respected university. Sometimes you can also find opening through the student council, or pamphlets near the information section, but overall you have to be proactive and look for opportunities yourself. Build you own network and keep hustling.

If you are looking for an easy full time entry level job market thats not here!!
Tips: I haven't transitioned much culturally. Not much cultural shift; I did not avail myself of any scholarship. Academically, the institute has taught a lot more about academia. I am satisfied with the university and course, be they their projects or topics. They are more inclined towards research, and professors are not friendly towards an industry thesis.
Likes (Public transportation): The tram and bus are all well connected to the university near the main station, so the S-Bahn connects even to the suburbs so quickly. Students get the Deutschland ticket, so it's basically included in your semester contribution, which is also being increased semester by semester but is still affordable.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Getting a visa after a job is very easy, but is getting a full-time job easy? There are very few entry-level openings in my field; they are only hiring people with 5 years of experience. They already have enough junior engineers they don't want any more. More than 40% of students who graduated from my master's study either end up going back to their countries or do a Ph.D., which they didn't plan.

TU Dresden advices that students should start looking for possible funding programs at least one year, but preferably one and a half years, before starting studies in Germany. Most full scholarships have at least a one-year lead time. Applications for study programme and for scholarship usually run

Generally most scholarships at TU Dresden like Deutschlandstipendium cannot be stacked with other material-based high-value or full public scholarships. However, some scholarships like PROMOS Mobility Grants can be combined with other separate external options.

For most merit-based scholarships at TU Dresden, Indian students generally need a minimum GPA equivalent to a 2.5 on the German grading scale (where 1.0 is the best and 4.0 is a pass).
