Eligibility

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must:
    • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country.
    • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country;
    • hold a first degree at of at least upper second-class level (2:1) standard

OR

  • hold a first degree at either lower-second class (2:2) standard plus a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
  • Meet the University’s English Language entry criteria for postgraduate study:
    • IELTS- 6.5 (Min 5.5 in each sub-skill)
    • PTE- 65 overall (Min. 59 in each sub-skill)
    • ELP Waiver- 75% minimum 12th standard English across all boards
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
  • Be unable themselves, or through their families, to pay to study in the UK;
  • Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format

Application Process for this scholarship

  • Evidence of any work experience stated on application form (if applicable)
  • Copies of your passport and ALL current and previous UK Visas (if applicable)
  • At least a 500 word statement which includes why you think you are eligible for this scholarship and what the benefits will be to you and your home country
  • A reference (signed by the referee and provided on letterhead paper)
  • Copies of all transcripts/certificates – evidence of qualifications obtained
  • Copies of any English language qualifications gained (e.g. IELTS, WAEC, NECO, KCSE, Indian Standard 12th)
  • Completed Commonwealth Scholarship expression of interest form – this will be emailed to you automatically when you state you are wishing to be considered for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship
