Scholarship Overview

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship is awarded for pursuing MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University of Strathclyde. A student can get a maximum amount of GBP 36925 and the scholarship amount will be given one time only. The scholarship amount can be used for paying tuition, living, travel, airfare and others. The University will give preference to candidates who already hold a first degree with FIRST CLASS HONOURS (or equivalent). To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their 12th grade and also possess a Bachelor degree. In order to apply for the scholarship, students need the following documents: LOR and Official Transcripts.

  • The total amount payout includes Tuition (£23050) + Living expenses (£13,875) 

It also covers the following-

  • Approved airfare from the applicant's home country to the UK and return at the end of the award
  • Examination fees
  • Warm Clothing Allowance 
  • A grant towards the expenses of preparing a dissertation, where applicable
  • A grant for expenses for approved study travel within the UK or overseas
  • Excess baggage allowance when returning home
  • Reimbursement of the cost of mandatory tuberculosis (TB) test, where required for a visa application (receipts must be supplied) – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC

No additional allowances are available for spouses or other dependents. If you are selected and plan to travel with a family you are responsible for all costs related to them

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, students must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in Sep/Oct 2022
  • Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Masters's degree). The CSC would not normally fund a second UK Master's degree
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country (as classified by the World Bank)
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship

Preference will be given to following candidates:

  • The University will give preference to candidates who already hold a first degree with FIRST CLASS HONOURS (or equivalent).

  • Applicants should first apply to study one of the taught Master’s courses offered in the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship scheme
  • Applicants must take the necessary steps to secure admission to their course at the same time as applying for a Shared Scholarship
    • Applicants must check with their chosen university for their specific advice, admission requirements, and rules for applying
  • Applicants must make their Shared Scholarship application using the CSC’s online application system, in addition to any other application that they are required to complete by their chosen university
    • The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system. Information on how to use the online application system is available on the CSC website
  • Students can apply for more than one taught Master’s course and/or to more than one university through the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme, but they may only accept one offer of a Shared Scholarship
