Scholarship Overview

  • The Inspiring Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship is an invitation to International Students to achieve excellence at Durham. 
  • Each scholarship is a competitive partial scholarship award worth up to £10,000 in tuition fee discounts towards the original tuition fee for an eligible postgraduate programme starting in September 2027.
  • The scholarships are available to all self-funded international applicants to Durham who meet all the eligibility criteria listed below. This scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other scholarships, funding or awards.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for the Durham Inspiring Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:

    • Beself-funded and not in receipt of any other scholarship, funding award, or sponsorship from Durham University or any external organisation.
      • Durham alumni are welcome to apply for the Inspiring Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship; however, the scholarship cannot be combined with the Durham University Alumni Discount. Successful applicants will be asked to choose from one of these awards.
    • Be classified as Overseas student for tuition fee purposes.
    • Hold a valid Durham Student ID
    • Have applied to a one-year, full-time (in-person) taught MSc, MA, LLM or MDS qualification
      • MBA, MSW programmes and MA in Theology and Ministry are excluded
    • Meet or exceed the entry requirements for the programme applied for at Durham University.
    • Commence postgraduate studies at Durham University in September 2027.
    • Not be progressing to Durham University via the Durham University International Study Centre.
    • Submit Durham Inspiring Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship Application Form.

Application Process for this scholarship

  • To apply for the Inspiring Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship, you must provide a valid Student ID, which is generated once you have submitted a complete postgraduate programme application.
  • However, you are not required to hold an academic offer at the time of your scholarship application.

  • Please note: if you fail to receive an academic offer before the deadline for the 1st round selection, or you are unsuccessful in the 1st round selection, you will be automatically considered for the next round selection. You do not need to submit the scholarship application form again.
