Colgate University usually takes three-four weeks to respond. The university accepts thousands of applications every year and thoroughly evaluates them based on the student’s performance, required scores, and participation, which is a time-consuming process. The university releases decisions as per the decision plan selected by the students:

For the class of 2028, over 20,000 applications were received by Colgate University from 152 countries. Out of the total, more than 2,800 students were admitted and over 800 enrolled in the programs. As per the official data, 9,487 applications out of 20,915 were international. Over 200 international students were admitted and 67 enrolled, contributing 8% of the total admitted students.

The Colgate University application fees for international students is USD 60 (INR 5K). However, international students must fulfill the eligibility criteria and submit mandatory documents including, Letters of Recommendation (LORs), mid-year grades, essays, personal statement, resumes, supplementary essays, creative works (social media profiles, performances, videotapes, or portfolios, as per course requirements), official standardized testing scores, English proficiency score, passport copy and financial documents. Along with on-campus employment provided by the university to students who need it, students can also choose to work part-time. According to law, those who hold a US student visa can work up to 20 hours a week when school is in session and 40 hours per week during school breaks. Off-campus work is defined as work undertaken at a location affiliated with the school. Thus, students can work at the university bookstore, cafeteria, and other facilities where students are allowed to help.

To get an off-campus or on-campus job, students will need to apply at least 30 days before classes begin. They will need to talk to the DSO to apply and get a letter of approval. 

Visa rules: Students who fall under the F1 visa category and have completed at least one full academic year of their current programme of study can work off-campus as well. They will need to ensure that their economic hardship qualifies according to the rules and regulations of the Department of Homeland Security.
