Commonly asked questions
On Fees and Eligibility
Q:   Is Georgia State University expensive for Indian students?
A:

It can be considered moderately expensive to study at. The tuition costs range somewhere between INR 23.6 Lakhs and INR 50 Lakhs per year, across the UG and PG levels of study, depening on the course one applies to. This is much more affordable compared to the more popular places like MIT, Yale, and Harvard. Here, the tuition costs can go upto INR 1 Cr.

Q:   How can I check my application status and whether my documents have been received at GSU?
A:

Students can check the status via the portal they used to submit the Common Application for GA State. The university usually takes around 7 to 10 business days to process the documents and update the status.

Students are advised to wait for this period at the very least. If the status is still not updated, students can then get in touch with the university.

Q:   Is it mandatory to submit a GRE or GMAT score at Georgia State?
A:

No, students don't need to submit either a GRE or GMAT score for most GSU courses. Business programs offered by the Robinson College of Business, have waived off the test score requirement for most courses.

However, students applying for studies at the Georgia State College of Law, may have to submit a valid GRE or LSAT score for courses like JD.

Students still can submit a valid score in either test. This can certainly have positive effect on the overall application.

Q:   What IELTS score do I need for admission at Georgia State University?
A:

International freshman (UG) students need a minimum IELTS score of 6.0. For PG courses, the IELTS requirement varies greatly for different courses. For Business courses offered by the GSU Business College, students need an IELTS score of 6.5. The college also accepts TOEFL and PTE Academic scores. For UG courses, a TOEFL score of 69 overall or a PTE score of 53 is enough.

M.A. Economics - Batch of 2025
4.1
Been a mixed batch of experiences.
Tips: Atlanta can be a mixed experience for people but downtown where the campus is located, is filled with opportunities and more. Sometimes it is hard to meet people outside classes and this can be hard to combat but I do appreciate the culture and diversity present on campus. The faculty is helpful and will encourage you to participate in on-campus activities and extracurriculums.

M.S. Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling - Batch of 2026
3.8
Great learning with amazing academics and faculty.
Tips: I had a slight culture shock when I initially got here owing to which it took me a while to settle down and make friends. This was mainly because of how individualistic everything appeared but once my classes started and I was more occupied with campus events, everything became a lot simpler. The city is friendly although it can also be very rushed at times so keep an open mind and join a campus activity or a part-time job that you'd enjoy. Overall, I am satisfied with the course, university and the country.

M.I.S. Urban Studies - Batch of 2027
3.8
It has been an interesting and unique experience.
Tips: I have experienced a lot of changes in myself during my experience studying at this university. It can feel overwhelming at the start as there are a lot of students throughout campus and the classes are competitive as well. There are events that take place but they are not advertised as much so you'll have better luck exploring outside campus or being more involved. Aside from nightlife, the city has a lot to offer. It has been a unique and decent experience.

M.S. Chemistry - Batch of 2024

It has been a dynamic and unique experience.
Tips: I was nervous about my experience at Georgia State University because I had never lived this far from home. However, it only took me a semester to settle in comfortably. There are a lot of exciting events and places to go around campus, which is probably due to its location and accessibility. A good way to connect with fellow students is to join campus groups and organizations and explore nearby attractions.

Grateful for the opportunity to study at Georgia State University.
Tips: Studying here has taught me a lot about myself and helped me develop many essential skills as well. The scope of internships and job placements are limited as I am pursuing sociology which has limited marketable opportunities. The faculty is very dedicated and there is immense scope for research and other such projects as well. Overall, I am satisfied wth the country, course and the university.

M.S. Educational Psychology - Batch of 2025
3.8
Lot of educational opportunities are provided.
Tips: I initially found it challenging to settle in as I had missed orientation and came here right when the classes had begun so by the time I had reached campus, the majority of my batchmates had their own groups. What helped me in my case was participating in campus events and clubs such as the writing club where I could meet people of similar interests. Aside from this, I would say studying here has been a positive experience and I am satisfied with the college.
