Beautiful once in a lifetime experience
Tips: There is a shift in culture naturally, as it’s a new country however, there is no change in the sense of friendships and community, and there are a lot of people to bond with and befriend across campus via multiple societies and events. I believe there are partial scholarships available however, I am a UK citizen who didn’t look into this. My course at this university is well constructed, with multiple opportunities available for a year in placement and a lot of aid and help with structures and materials.
Likes (Student Life): There are many diverse communities with a large range of activities and sports to take part in and student life for first year on campus builds beautiful bonds. There would be multiple events such as jazz night, college nights where each college will have parties and socials to participate in. I have taken part in the Tamil and mallu society, Hindu society, and they had many cultural events take place such as onam, garba and Diwali being at the top with many mini events and societies like Art and sports allow students to discover and explore more of their favourite society events.
Dislikes (Part time work): There is multiple part-time jobs available, such as retail, corner shops, servicing and more available for students to apply to, and depending on your course, many students during first year find it manageable to balance a part-time job and studies. The average payout would be around £10.50.

A Valuable Global Experience
Tips: Students should be ready for cultural change, but the country is welcoming and diverse, especially in the Midlands and the north of England. I received a £3000 international student scholarship, which is given to every student from the South Asian region. I'm extremely grateful to have been a part of the University, though the course could have been a bit more niche-specific. The job market is highly competitive, but the country and the people are quite lovely.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I rated it 5 because the faculty was knowledgeable, approachable, and quite supportive in each and every aspect of a student's journey. Teaching was appropriate combined with theory lectures along with workshops, seminars and practical case studies.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It got 2 marks because moving to UK is not easy due to visa requirements, sponsorship issues, and stiff competition in the job market. My chances of succeeding in UK are slim, and I would rather consider other options in Europe.

University of York- Friendly little town
Tips: Great city to live in, extremely friendly people, very safe, very beautiful, with a river in the city and a campus lake! International scholarships are available when applying; focus on classes and coursework, but also join societies and attend their events to make friends. Go to the library to study.
Likes (Safety): York is a fairly safe city. Not many incidents on campus, and even late nights in the city are very safe. Never had any incidents. The campus safety team is also prompt and usually comes on time when called. Their cars also move around the campus to ensure safety.
Dislikes (Indian Food): York doesn't really have many good, authentic Indian restaurants, and the ones that do are pretty expensive for a student. Good for once in a once-in-a-while treat, though. I tried Kalpakawadi, which was really good, on my birthday. There are other great places for student meals like shawarmas, pizza, and burgers.

Best academics, but career growth depends on self effort.
Tips: Look, the uni is great for the academic side of things, obviously, but you've gotta realize that landing a job or an internship is basically just down to you. It takes a ton of networking and just... putting yourself out there constantly. My move over was smooth enough, but the weather and just the general lifestyle change was a massive shock to the system, especially without any scholarships or anything like that to lean on. You honestly have to take charge of your own career from day one—applying for everything and just constantly building up your skills. The uni gives you the basic stuff like job boards and some advice, but at the end of the day, the hard work is really just on you. Adjusting to the cold and everything takes time, especially if you're dealing with health stuff, and you just have to learn to be way more independent and handle the day-to-day on your own. It does get easier once you've got a routine sorted, but yeah, it’s a good experience for exposure as long as you're actually getting out there and making it happen. It's just a lot of work.
Likes (Indian Food): Honestly, you won't really struggle to find something familiar to eat here since there's just so much Indian, Asian, and even Middle Eastern food all over the place. If you're grabbing a takeaway, you're usually looking at around £15 to £20, while a sit-down meal at a restaurant is probably more like £20 to £30. Groceries are everywhere too, and the prices vary quite a bit between stores, so cooking for yourself is actually a pretty solid way to keep your costs down.
Dislikes (Internships): Opportunities exist but are not easy to access for international students. The university offers guidance like CV review ad job portals, but most of the efforts are self-driven. Internships in the field are highly competitive and securing one requires early preparation and consistent application and strong networking.

New learnings for new beginnings.
Tips: I experienced a cultural shift, since it is a Western country, and we will experience a huge cultural shift. But you will feel good and learn a lot. I got a personal scholarship from my university since I performed well in my undergraduate studies. I am completely satisfied with all the things.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fee for my course is justified. I had good and well-mastered lecturers from whom I gained a lot of knowledge about my course, and also I should speak about the campus safety, where every single person who studies at that university is taken care of.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are a lot of companies that are offering visas for work. But it all depends upon how you perform in your academics and actively apply for jobs. As a student, you can work up to 20 hrs per week in any role, and you can get to know about the opening from the university portals themselves, where you'll be paid up to 900 pounds per month.
