Review of IIT Dhanbad (ISM) - Indian Institute of Technology (ISM).

Placements: Approximately 80% of students are placed. The average package is around 15 LPA - 20 LPA. The highest would be around 1.2 crores. Top recruiters include companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and many more. 25% of students got internships from my course. Mostly in core companies, and every kind of role is offered.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is built everywhere on campus. LAN is also provided. Classes are not as big as expected, but good, mess is just fine, as expected, not that good. Various canteens are there in every hostel. Vending machines are also installed. Medical facilities are good. Facilities are also really good for studying. Library is really big.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and very knowledgeable. Teaching depends on the teacher though, some teach really great, some don't. That's the crux of every college to be honest. Curriculum is relevant as it's an IIT. Exams are fine.

Other: I didn't choose this course, I got it through counseling. It's good though, really interesting.

Review of IIT ISM Dhanbad.

Placements: Placements in our college are quite good. In the year 2024, it was 76.37% of B.Tech students were placed, which is good. The number of students getting placed is increasing year by year. The highest package offered is 66 LPA CTC. In my branch, which is Mechanical, 72.37% of students are placed. The highest package offered is 51 LPA CTC, while the lowest package is 6.5 LPA. On average, placements in our college are good.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure in our college is very decent. Some hostels were built decades ago but still, they are good. Some are built recently and have a very high-quality infrastructure. The food quality is okay, and if we have any problem with the food, they have the right to register a complaint. The canteen food is good-quality at affordable prices. Our college has two major grounds and one minor ground. Our college also has badminton and basketball courts in every hostel.

Faculty: Professors in our college are highly qualified. If we look into their resumes, they will be a minimum of 25 pages. We have good quality teaching, with professors using PowerPoint presentations for the betterment of the students, and they also use the board whenever needed. The course curriculum is very relevant, and professors prepare students for industrial purposes. Semester exams in the college are moderate and some subjects are made bit difficult. The pass percentage is very low and it depends on the professor.

Other: I haven't choose this course wantedly, I got this course in JoSAA counselling. I have no regrets regarding this after knowing about my branch. It has many job opportunities in both core and non-core.

What you need to know before choosing IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

Placements: Placements at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad have significantly dropped this year. However, if you are skilled and have performed well in academics you won't have to worry about this. The percentage of students that get placed this year in mechanical department (my branch) is almost 70%. The average package offered is 13 LPA. The median package is equal to 10 LPA, and the highest package is equal to 52 LPA. Our top recruiters are Tata Steel, Bajaj, Mahindra, Jaguar Land Over, etc.

Infrastructure: The campus is evolving, with a new lecture hall and auditorium set for completion by December 2026. The institute features a well-stocked library and a historic heritage building, complemented by a beautiful maintained garden, and adding both tradition and vibrance to the campus. The lecture hall complex, though functional, lacks AC and is not quite on par with the top 7 IITs. Every hostel has a canteen, and students have several food options like RD canteen, Dominos, and Barista. Health center provides free medical services, including ambulances. Sports facilities include fields, courts, and even a swimming pool. Recently, smart boards and projector screens have been installed for modernizing learning.

Faculty: Professors are somewhat good but not always friendly. You won't always get great teachers, and focusing in class can be challenging. Self-study or online lectures help students. Professors assist with doubts, but most understanding comes from personal effort. Each academic year is split into two semesters, with mid and end-semester exams, plus two quizzes per subject. The curriculum maintains a balance between theory and hands-on learning. While the workload can feel intense at times, it teaches valuable skills like time management, problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and crucial for any job.

Other: Campus life at IIT Dhanbad is something you truly grow into. You will be forced to get out of your comfort zone a lot of times and experience many things. There are various clubs that you can join based on your liking, skills, or interests. There are dancing club, singing club, lots of technical clubs for coding, robotics, or development, drama club, and many more. Every year, a technical fest Concetto and a socio-cultural fest Srijan are celebrated. The fests last for three days and every day has some events planned for students, celebrity performances, and an unforgettable EDM night.

IIT Dhanbad consists good infrastructure.

Placements: In our college, placements are not started in mechanical engineering. By seeing the previous trends, in mechanical engineering, 70-80% of people got placed. Overall B.Tech students got placed 70%. The median salary is 14 LPA.

Infrastructure: Compared to IITs, it is under the top 5. Our campus is full of trees. It has a good whether. The campus contains free Wi-Fi in hostels and classrooms. There is a seven-storeyed library to study which is good enough for all students. The library also contains a Wi-Fi facility. The food is okay to eat but people from the south face difficulty in eating the food. There is a health centre on campus in which an ambulance is available 24/7.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified here. They have high knowledge. They usually teach in English. Sometimes, they use Hindi also. There are well-equipped labs with sufficient materials for all departments. Semester exams are not so tough to easy. People who study can write exams easily.

Other: Mechanical is one of the evergreen branches in B.Tech compared to others. Coming to events, our college has great events like Concetto which is related to the technical fest. Khanan is a mining fest and Srijan is the biggest cultural fest which continues for 3 days. Parakram is the annual sports fest.

Good infrastructure, average teachers, nice hostels, decent campus, good placements and internships.

Placements: Internships for mechanical branch are very low. There are very less mechanical core companies. Yet placements more mechanical are quite good, with approximately 80% of placements. Students get internships or placements either in tech or in core. Overall, placements are quite good with top recruiting companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Tata Steel, ICICI, etc.

Infrastructure: We have one of the largest libraries in Asia. We have Wi-Fi-enabled hostel, campus, and library, with LAN outputs in hostels as well. We have great hostels for girls and boys both. We have a health center where you have treatment and can get medicine free of cost. Mess is also decent.

Faculty: I personally don't like professors here. I find them boring, and I think that they don't know how to teach. Professors are knowledgeable but they don't know how to deliver it. Semester exams are quite difficult. We have compulsory 75% attendance and 14 weeks of classes.

Other: We have 2 large fests and 2 small fests in a year. We have an innovation center named NVCTI, where you can test your ideas for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The candidates who appeared for the first time in the Class 12th (or equivalent) examination in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects should remain individuals . Candidates appearing in Class 12th (or equivalent) examinations during the first interval of 2023 or earlier are not permitted to appear in JEE (progressive) 2025, with no substance to the compound else total of subjects attempted or offered. Nevertheless, if the Board of Class 12th (or equivalent) scrutiny for the intellectual calendar year 2022-23 has to announce the outcome of the otherwise June 28, 2023, then the candidate of that Board whose class 12th (or equivalent) scrutiny in 2023 will furthermore remain eligible for JEE (High-tech) 2025 supply because he has to fulfil all the other eligibility conditions. Candidates who have completed Class 12th (or equivalent) examination outside India or a Board nay impose higher should submit a certificate published by the AIU confirming that their examination is equivalent to Class 12th scrutiny. If the class 12th scrutiny be nay is not used in academic writing as a mass assessment, the candidate must have at least one previous citizen assessment (Board, otherwise Pre-University).
