Decent college, but with some fundamental problems.
Placements: The placements have always been decent at IITISM Dhanbad. The good part about IIT Dhanbad is that even the supposedly "lower' branches also score decent packages like petroleum engineering, mining. Environmental engineering. Petroleum engineering, in particular, has had a decent history of placement since all major oil and petro companies like ONGC come here to recruit. Recently, even bigger companies are taking an interest in recruiting from IITISM, which promises a hopeful placement journey for the future.
Infrastructure: Our mechanical department is the richest in the entire college. We have a lot of machines and lab equipment. We have the Institute Research Hub (iRh) and the innovation centre i2H and NVCTI. They have world-class infrastructure. However, I have only given three stars for the infrastructure, which is because of the hostel. The food is okay, we get paneer and non-veg 3 times a week, and the taste is okay. The internet speed is only 50 Mbps most of the time, and the rooms are small and don't even have two desks, although two people live in one room.
Faculty: Most of the teachers, almost all of them, are very well qualified with their post-graduation studies done from abroad or top institutions. Now, the helpfulness of the teacher tends to be a hit or a miss, but I have found that the odds of you getting a bad teacher are low-ish, at least for the first year, when we have common courses. The course is relevant, but you will still need to do things on your own to make sure you are not missing out on skills that the industry requires. The academics are a bit on the tougher side.
Other: I took this college since it is near my home and I can often come to meet my family. Mechanical engineering is a decent branch that gives you the option to appear for the IES exam down the road. The hostel rooms need a change. We were allotted Jasper hostel, and the worst problem I face is that there's only one desk space, so if you're using the desk, your roommate has to study on their bed. This year's final year also has double sharing, which is very sad because you'll never get personal space in your uni life here.

Extremely happy seeing my dream of becoming an IITan come true.
Placements: The data on the placements here is good compared to the other 2 IITs. Many of our seniors are placed in foreign countries this year, and some also got high packages in India. Placement in the Mechanical department is expected to become low this year, as everywhere.
Infrastructure: Hostel is good. We are getting several facilities with computer labs, a Library, and Many lecture halls for studying. The full campus is Wi-Fi covered, and internet LAN cables are also available everywhere. Inside the hostel, on every floor, a common room is also available for playing games, watching TV, and relaxing.
Faculty: Professors here are very good in terms of teaching and providing study material. They are also highly qualified in their subjects and very humble and kind in nature. They are always ready to help and solve doubts. They also help during exam sessions by taking practice question classes.
Other: There is always something happening in college that helps us to get involved and feel a social presence for it.

Review of IIT Dhanbad (ISM) - Indian Institute of Technology (ISM).
Placements: Approximately 80% of students are placed. The average package is around 15 LPA - 20 LPA. The highest would be around 1.2 crores. Top recruiters include companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and many more. 25% of students got internships from my course. Mostly in core companies, and every kind of role is offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is built everywhere on campus. LAN is also provided. Classes are not as big as expected, but good, mess is just fine, as expected, not that good. Various canteens are there in every hostel. Vending machines are also installed. Medical facilities are good. Facilities are also really good for studying. Library is really big.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and very knowledgeable. Teaching depends on the teacher though, some teach really great, some don't. That's the crux of every college to be honest. Curriculum is relevant as it's an IIT. Exams are fine.
Other: I didn't choose this course, I got it through counseling. It's good though, really interesting.

Good infrastructure, average teachers, nice hostels, decent campus, good placements and internships.
Placements: Internships for mechanical branch are very low. There are very less mechanical core companies. Yet placements more mechanical are quite good, with approximately 80% of placements. Students get internships or placements either in tech or in core. Overall, placements are quite good with top recruiting companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Tata Steel, ICICI, etc.
Infrastructure: We have one of the largest libraries in Asia. We have Wi-Fi-enabled hostel, campus, and library, with LAN outputs in hostels as well. We have great hostels for girls and boys both. We have a health center where you have treatment and can get medicine free of cost. Mess is also decent.
Faculty: I personally don't like professors here. I find them boring, and I think that they don't know how to teach. Professors are knowledgeable but they don't know how to deliver it. Semester exams are quite difficult. We have compulsory 75% attendance and 14 weeks of classes.
Other: We have 2 large fests and 2 small fests in a year. We have an innovation center named NVCTI, where you can test your ideas for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Review of IIT ISM Dhanbad.
Placements: Placements in our college are quite good. In the year 2024, it was 76.37% of B.Tech students were placed, which is good. The number of students getting placed is increasing year by year. The highest package offered is 66 LPA CTC. In my branch, which is Mechanical, 72.37% of students are placed. The highest package offered is 51 LPA CTC, while the lowest package is 6.5 LPA. On average, placements in our college are good.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in our college is very decent. Some hostels were built decades ago but still, they are good. Some are built recently and have a very high-quality infrastructure. The food quality is okay, and if we have any problem with the food, they have the right to register a complaint. The canteen food is good-quality at affordable prices. Our college has two major grounds and one minor ground. Our college also has badminton and basketball courts in every hostel.
Faculty: Professors in our college are highly qualified. If we look into their resumes, they will be a minimum of 25 pages. We have good quality teaching, with professors using PowerPoint presentations for the betterment of the students, and they also use the board whenever needed. The course curriculum is very relevant, and professors prepare students for industrial purposes. Semester exams in the college are moderate and some subjects are made bit difficult. The pass percentage is very low and it depends on the professor.
Other: I haven't choose this course wantedly, I got this course in JoSAA counselling. I have no regrets regarding this after knowing about my branch. It has many job opportunities in both core and non-core.
