The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) cutoff for Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences And Research (HIMSR), New Delhi, can vary from year to year and is influenced by several factors. These factors include-:
- NEET Difficulty Level-: Difficulty level can impact the cutoff scores. A more challenging paper might lead to lower cutoffs.
- Number of Seats-: Availability of seats can also affect the cutoff. If there are fewer seats, the competition is more intense, and the cutoff may be higher.
- Reservation Quotas-: The seats are allocated based on reservation quotas for various categories, including General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and others, play a significant role in determining the cutoff scores for each category.
- Previous Year's Cutoff-: The cutoff scores from the previous year can serve as a reference point. However, they are not always indicative of the current year's cutoff, as it may change based on various factors.
- Candidate Performance-: The overall performance of candidates who appear for the NEET exam in a specific year impacts the cutoff. Higher-scoring candidates may lead to a higher cutoff, while lower-scoring candidates may result in a lower cutoff.
- Reservation Categories specific categories, such as physically handicapped (PH) or differently-abled candidates, may have separate cutoffs.
- All India Quota vs. State Quota-: HIMSR may have seats allotted under the All India Quota and the State Quota. The cutoffs can differ for these quotas.
- Counseling Process-: The admission counseling process, which includes choices made by candidates and the availability of seats during counseling, can affect the final cutoff scores.etc..
It's important to note that the NEET cutoff for HIMSR can change from year to year, and the above factors interact in a complex manner to determine the final cutoff scores. To have a clear understanding of the cutoff for a particular year, it's advisable to refer to the official HIMSR website or contact the concerned department for the most up-to-date information and cut off score

Commonly asked questions
The NEET and CUET UG are two most competitive undergraduate entrance exams. NEET UG is conducted for admission to medical, dental, nursing and allied courses, CUET UG is the gateway to multiple bachelor's degree courses offered at multiple universities across India. While NEET UG has a single question paper on three subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, CUET UG is conducted separately for different subjects. According to experts and students, the difficulty level of NEET is higher than the CUET UG exam. Moreover, the syllabus of NEET consists of both Class 11 and Class 12 curriculum whereas CUET UG syllabus consists only of Class 12 curriculum, making the syllabus and weightage of NEET higher than the CUET UG exam.
There are generally four Sets of NEET question papers, which are further segregated into six parts. The names of the NEET 2024 question paper Sets and codes are Q, R, S and T. For the NEET 2024 re-exam, the question paper sets were A, B, C and D. The multiple Sets and codes in the NEET question papers ensure that there is no malpractice in the conduct of the exam. The names of the Sets and codes of the regional NEET question papers are different from the English ones. While distributing the question papers of NEET invigilators had to ensure that they did not give the same set question paper to two consecutive candidates. Once candidates are given the NEET question paper by invigilators, they need to check whether the question paper and test booklet, or answer sheet is of the same code. In case of a mismatch, they need to bring the matter to the invigilators notice. In case they submit the NEET test booklet with a different code from that of the NEET question paper, their exam will stand cancelled.
The difficulty level of NEET 2025 was very tough. As compared to last year, the difficulty level of the exam was much tougher. Physics was the toughest section. Chemistry was of moderate level of difficulty. The Biology section consisted of Botany and Zoology, was the easiest section. Botany questions were tougher than that of Zoology. The majority of the questions were NCERT-based, which were of easy difficulty level. There were some analytical questions, which were tough. Overall, the difficulty level of NEET 2025 subjects was moderate and the paper was manageable according to the candidates.
No, NEET candidates are not allowed to use calculator during the exam. They have to do calculations manually on the test booklet provided to them. Calculator is one of the prohibited items to be carried to the exam centre. Moreover, since NEET is conducted in paper-pencil-based mode, they are not provided onscreen calculator unlike other computer-based exams. Hence, students are advised to practice calculations so that they do not face much difficulty on the day of the NEET exam.
While the level of the NEET and JEE Main is same, as both the exams are of undergraduate level and the syllabus is that of Class 11 and Class 12, the difficulty level of JEE Main is higher than that of NEET. Although both the exams are tough and highly competitive in their own rights, the exam pattern and syllabus are different. Physics and Chemistry are common subjects, and Mathematics and Biology are covered in JEE Main and NEET respectively. The focus on Mathematics and computational ability of candidates is more in the JEE Main exam, whereas in NEET, the Biology subject carries the highest weightage. On the other hand, the difficulty level of the Physics questions are higher in JEE Main than NEET as according to experts, they are trickier in the former as compared to the latter.
Although the questions are the same in all Sets of the NEET question paper, the order of the sections and questions vary from set to set. The different order of the sections and questions ensure that there is no malpractice conducted during the exam. Even if some questions are absolutely different in separate Sets or languages, the topics and chapters covered and difficulty level remain similar to ensure normalisation. Hence, it can be said that NTA Sets a common question paper carrying 200 questions, after which the questions are distributed across four Sets and six subsets of the NEET question paper. The subjects, and the questions within the subjects are shuffled for each of the NEET question paper Sets. This allows a parity in terms of topics covered and difficulty level, as well as allows avoidance of malpractice.

NEET Exam Pattern 2025
Commonly asked questions
NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a paper-pencil based test (PBT) of three hours or 180 minutes duration. There will be a total of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), all of which will be compulsory to attempt. The syllabus of the exam consists of Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The Biology subject is segregated between Zoology and Botany. On the other hand, Chemistry subject is segragated into Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. Unlike last year, the subjects will not be divided into two sections.
According to the marking scheme, each correct question carries 4 marks and there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted or extra attempted questions. The following table brings the structure of the NEET exam.
Sections | Number of Questions | Total Marks |
---|---|---|
Physics Section | 45 | 180 |
Chemistry Section | 45 | 180 |
Botany Section | 45 | 180 |
Zoology Section | 45 | 180 |
Last year, the NEET 2025 exam pattern underwent major changes. It is expected that the NEET 2026 exam pattern will remain the same as last year. The total number of questions and duration in minutes have been reduced from 200 to 180. The total marks of the exam is 720. Each question has four answer options. Each correct answer fetches four marks and there is one mark negative marking for each wrong answer. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions or extra attempted questions.
According to the NEET exam pattern, a question for which more than one response is marked on the OMR sheet will be considered incorrect. For such questions, one mark would be deducted. Hence, candidates should be careful while answering on the OMR sheet. They should solve the questions separately on the space provided for rough work, and then shade the answer option on the OMR sheet to avoid such errors. Revision after completing the exam is also important.
To be precise, there are no specific changes introduced in the NEET 2025 exam pattern. Rather, the exam pattern has been revised to that of the pre-COVID era. Following revisions have been made in the NEET exam pattern 2025.
- Removal of optional questions - The 20 optional questions across the subjects have been removed.
- Reduction in number of questions - Owing to the removal of the optional questions, the number of questions on the NEET question paper has been reduced from 200 to 180.
- Removal of second section from each subject - Till last year, each subject was divided into two sections, Section A and Section B. This year, the sections have been removed and each subject will consist of 45 questions.
- Reduction in duration - The total duration of NEET exam has been reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes.
As per the NEET exam pattern, the examination will only have objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Hence, there is no possibility of having descriptive questions in NEET. Moreover, given the fact that it is an entrance exam, there is not much significance of the descriptive questions or theoritical knowledge. Each question will carry four answer options and test-takers will have to select the correct answer option and mark it on the OMR sheet.
The format for NEET exam is a total of 180 question with total 720 marks. Four marks will be awarded for a right answer and one mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. The questions will be objective type that is MCQ based. 90 questions will be from Biology including Zoology and Botany both, and 45 questions each from Physics and 45 Chemistry. Each subject will be divided into two sections. The syllabus will be that of Class 11 and Class 12 CBSE syllabus.
No, there is no time limit to solve a section in NEET. The total duration of the exam is 200 minutes, or three hours and 20 minutes. Hence, on an average, candidates will get around five minutes for each question. Candidates must keep a tab on the timing as NEET is a time-pressed exam.
Before the exam day, candidates are advised to prepare a time management strategy wherein a particular timing should be assigned for each section or subject. They must also note that they will not be given any extra time to complete the exam, nor will they be allowed to take breaks in between or leave before time.
