What is UPTET 2023?
UPTET is a state-level exam conducted once a year that enables candidates to gain eligibility for Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). UPTET exam is conducted in two shifts for two papers - Paper 1 and 2. UPTET Paper 1 is conducted for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 1-5. On the other hand, UPTET Paper 2 is for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 6-8. However, the candidates who wish to become teachers of Classes 1-8 need to appear in both papers of UPTET 2023.

UPTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

UP TET Age limit for Paper 1 & Paper 2
Candidates should have attained a minimum of 18 years of age in order to be eligible to apply for the UPTET exam. There is no upper age limit in the UPTET exam.
UP TET Educational Qualification for Paper 1 & Paper 2

UPTET Paper 1 Educational Qualification (Primary Teacher)
Candidates need to fulfill any one of the eligibility conditions mentioned below in terms of educational qualification in order to appear for the UPTET Paper 1:
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Graduation with BEd (final year appearing or passed).
UPTET Paper 2 Educational Qualification (Upper Primary Teacher)
Candidates need to fulfill any one of the eligibility criteria given below in terms of educational qualification in order to appear for the UPTET Paper 2:
- Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd.
- Graduation with at least 45 per cent marks and a one-year BEd.
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks with a four-year BElEd.
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks with a four-year BA/ BScEd/ BAEd/ BScEd.

UPTET 2023 Selection Process
The UPTET selection process 2023 involves the following stages:

Release of UPTET notification: The UPTET exam process begins with the release of official notification. The notification is available as a PDF file that contains the important details including the application process, eligibility criteria, important dates, exam pattern, syllabus and others.

UPTET application form: The second stage involves the UPTET application process. Candidates need to fill out the application form in order to appear for the UPTET examination. For the successful submission of the application form, candidates need to pay the application fee. The fee is INR 600 for the General category, INR 400 for SC/ST and INR 100 for PwD.

Issue of UPTET admit card: The UPTET admit card is issued to those candidates who successfully submit their applications for the exam. Candidates need to download the admit card and carry it to the exam centre on exam day.

Conduct of UPTET exam: UPTET exam consists of two papers. In both papers, a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are asked. Each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in the exam.

UPTET result: UPTET result is announced by the exam conducting authority on the official website of the exam. Candidates scoring a minimum of 60 per cent marks in the written exam are declared as qualified.

Issue of UPTET eligibility certificate: Candidates qualifying for the test are issued an eligibility certificate by the exam authority. Candidates having the certificate are eligible to apply for teaching jobs in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The validity of the UPTET eligibility certificate is now extended for a lifetime.

UPTET 2023 Certificate

The UPTET certificate is now valid for a lifetime. Candidates will be able to apply for teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh schools using the UPTET certificate.
UPTET Certificate Validity
The UPTET certificate is now valid forever. Ramesh Pokhariyal, Indian Education Minister has announced that the validity of the UPTET certificate is extended for a lifetime. Earlier the validity of the certificates was 5 years. Candidates qualifying for the UPTET 2023 exam will be the first batch of candidates with a lifetime UPTET certificate and can apply for teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh schools at any point in time till they fulfil the eligibility criteria fixed by the respective recruiting agency.
UPTET 2023 Vacancies
UP government announces vacancies for the primary and upper primary government school teachers for UPTET-qualified candidates. The candidates need to understand that UPTET is only an eligibility test. The recruitment test for UP primary and upper primary is conducted by UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) according to the need. The last recruitment test was organised for 51112 seats for UP primary teachers in 2023.
UPTET Teacher Salary
UPTET is an eligibility exam that is qualifying in nature. Qualifying for the UPTET 2023 exam does not guarantee a job to candidates. Therefore, there is no fixed UPTET salary structure. However, candidates who are able to qualify for the UPTET exam along with the UP teacher recruitment process are offered a good salary package.
