Q:   Will RRB Group D exam be conducted this year?

RRB Group D exam notification 2024 will be released in October-December 2024. According to the announcement made by Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, railway group d exam will be conducted every year. The selection process comprises CBT, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. The recruitment is conducted to select candidates for the various posts in Level-1 of the seventh CPC pay matrix such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, and many more.

RRB Group D application form 2024 will be released in October-December by the Railway Recruitment Boards. RRB Group D application form should be filled online only. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250. Candidates can pay the fee both online and offline. Candidates are not required to sent the hard copy of the application form.

Q:   What is the educational qualification required for RRB Group D exam?

A:

For the RRB Group D exam, the age of candidates should be between 18 and 33 years. Candidates must have completed Class 10 from an Institution recognised by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT to apply for the exam. The prescribed medical standards for the exam is given below.

Q:   Can a 12th pass apply for RRB Group D?

As per the minimum academic qualification, candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D exam must have qualified 10+2 while the age limit required for the exam is 18 to 30 years. RRB Group D Application Form 2024

RRB Group D application form is released online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates expected the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/ Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class was INR 250. Candidates can pay the fee both online and offline. The application fee is refunded after candidates appear in the CBT. Candidates belonging to the unreserved categories get partial refund of application fees while reserved category candidates are entitled for full refund of the application fees. The link to check the application status is activated after the application process closes. To check the application status, candidates need to enter registration number/date of birth and security code.

Steps to Apply for RRB Group D 

  • Visit the official website-http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/
  • Click on the ‘New Registration’ link
  • Register for the exam by entering details such as name, date of birth and father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar Number, SSLC/Matric registration number, year of passing, mobile number, email ID and then submit the registration form
  • Upon registration, registration number and password are generated
  • In Part I of the application page, provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class and Age Relaxation and other details
  • In Part II of the application page, enter the priority/preference of the RRB Group D posts
  • Pay the application fees using Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI and Offline Challan
  • Choose the exam languages-Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu

Through RRB Group D exam, Railways recruits for the posts of Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant, Pointsman. The selection process comprises CBT, PET, and Medical/Document Verification.

RRB Group D 2024 Eligibility Criteria

RRBs had revised RRB Group D eligibility criteria for aspirants who wish to apply for the exam in future. The minimum education qualification for candidates applying to the technical departments-Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, and Signal & Telecom departments) and catering wing of Railways must have passed Class 10 and also have National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by National Council for Vocational Training. Candidates who have passed Class 10 and ITI can also apply for the exam. Candidates can check below the RRB Group D eligibility criteria for Level-1 posts.

Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

RRB Group D 2024 Exam Pattern

RRB Group D exam pattern 2024 comprises CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination. According to the RRB Group D exam pattern, the CBT consists of sections, such as General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. The duration of CBTs is 90 minutes. For each correct answer in CBT, candidates score one mark. There is also negative marking for wrong answers, 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. CBT is held in 15 languages besides English and Hindi. Candidates qualifying CBT exam are called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). RRB Group D answer key is released for CBT exam. Normalisation of Marks

The marks of RRB Group D are calculated based on the normalisation process. As the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the marks of the candidates are normalised using percentile-based calculation method. The result is announced based on the percentile based calculation score.

What is RRB Group D Exam Pattern for PET/PST?

RRB Group D Exam Pattern for PET/PST is given below:

RRB Group D Exam Day Guidelines

The exam day guidelines for RRB Group D exam are given below:

  • Candidates need to wear masks all the time inside the exam centre. They need to maintain a safe distance from one another
  • Candidates are also allowed to carry hand-sanitiser inside the exam centre
  • Candidates need to carry their RRB Group D admit card along with photo-identity proof to the examination centre
  • Impersonation is prohibited, and strict action will be taken if anyone is found doing so
  • Candidates need to reach the exam centre on time
  • Candidates reaching the exam centre late will not be allowed to appear in the exam
  • No electronic devices are allowed inside the examination centre
  • Copying, cheating, or any other kind of malpractices are prohibited

RRBs releases RRB Group D city intimation slip 10 days before the exam. To view the exam city, candidates need to login with user ID and password. The details related to  RRB Group D 2024 exam centres are mentioned in the admit card. Candidates are required to choose RRB Group D exam centres while filling their application form. Usually, RRBs allot exam centres as per the preferences given by the candidates. In case of a shortage of seats in a particular centre, candidates are allotted to the next available centre.

RRB Group D cut off is announced along with the result. The cutoff is made available in PDF form for different regions, categories, and posts. The qualifying RRB Group D cut off was 40 for the General and EWS categories and 30 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST.

RRB Group D Salary

Candidates selected through the RRB Group D exam get a basic salary of INR 18,000 per month based on the seventh CPC pay matrix . Apart from the RRB Group D salary, candidates are also given additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), Daily Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Allowance for Night Duty, Medical Facilities, Overtime Allowance, etc. The in-hand salary of RRB Group Posts is INR 22,500-INR 25,380 per month.
