BITSAT 2027 Exam: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani conducts the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) for admission to its first-degree programmes at the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. This university-level exam is held for 3 hours comprising 130 questions divided into 4 sections. The institute has updated the admission portal at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in with the latest update on tentative registration dates. Students will be able to fill the BITSAT application form as early as December 2026.

What is BITSAT?
BITSAT stands for Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test. It is conducted by BITS, Pilani. It’s scores are used for admissions into the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. BITSAT is the pathway to undergraduate (Integrated First Degree) programmes across:
- B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electronics & Communication, etc.
- B.Pharm. (Bachelor of Pharmacy)
- Integrated M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, and General Studies.
It is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted at designated test centers where candidates answer MCQs. The exam tests Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning. Because it is computer-administered, candidates receive their total score on the screen immediately after submitting the test.
BITSAT is solely a merit-based entrance test and admissions are offered through a centralised counselling based on the scores and candidate's preference order. Having a valid score is required alongside 75% board criteria. The only exception to BITSAT is for first-rank holders of central and state board, who are offered direct admission to the discipline of their choice regardless of their BITSAT score.
(Note: BITS Pilani also has a Dubai campus, but admissions there typically follow a separate process based on Class 12 merit/SAT scores.)

BITSAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Since the official notificaton is awaited. Candidates can check the BITSAT eligibility criteria based on the previous year's notificatin below. Last year, the authorities made a few critical changes to the eligibility rules to apply for the test. The basic eligibility requirements to apply for BITSAT include:
- Educational Qualification: Must pass Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board with English proficiency.
- Subjects Required: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) along with English.
- Minimum Marks: Minimum 75% aggregate in PCM/PCB and 60% individually in each subject.
- PCB Candidates: Eligible for B.Pharm as well as B.E. / M.Sc. in Environmental and Sustainability Engineering (requires Class 10 Math).
- Appearing Candidates: Class 12 students appearing in 2027 or passed in 2026 are eligible.
- Age Limit: No age restriction. Eligibility depends strictly on your Class 12 passing year.
- Improvement Candidates: Must re-appear in all subjects per latest guidelines.
BITSAT 2027 Registration
BITS Pilani is likely to conduct the BITSAT 2027 registration for session 1 in December 2026. Candidates will be able to submit the application form in online mode only. The basic application process involves:
- Visit the official BITS admission website.
- Register using basic details.
- Log in with the newly generated registration details.
- Fill the complete application form by entering academic details, select test city preferences, upload the documents and paying the application fees.
- Submit and save the confirmation page.

No, there is no domicile requirement for BITSAT admission. All Indian students are eligible for admission, if they meet the basic requirements. Through the BITSAT eligibility criteria, the students can check the important requirements that need to be met for admission.
BITSAT eligibility criteria is released online. Students should have passed 12th class qualifying examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. They should have atleast 75 percent marks in PCM and 60 percent in individual subjects.
The 12th standard PCM marks will be considered to break the tie in the BITSAT score. If the tie remains after checking the entrance exam subject-wise score, then the 12th standard qualifying exam marks will be used to break the tie.
The authority conducts the BITSAT exam in two sessions. The BITSAT 2027 session 1 exam will be held in April, while session 2 exam will be held in May. Candidates can appear in any one or both sessions. In case students appear for both the best of the two will be considered.

The campus-wise BITSAT cutoff will be released by the BITS Pilani authorities. The cutoff scores can be checked online at bitsadmission.com. Students are advised to check the previous years' cutoffs carefully to know the score range that is required to have higher chances of admission in their preference.
BITS Pilani authorities will not accept any requests to review BITSAT score. Since score is calculated after careful revision, authorities will consider it as final. If there are mistakes in other details, then it can be informed to authorities.
Students will not be able to confirm their allotment if they meet the BITSAT cutoff. However, they will have higher admission chances to their choice of course and campus. Since the allotment process will consider other factors too along with cutoff, the students will know their admission status after the seats allotted are announced.

Aspirants with Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12 can only apply for BE Environmental & Sustainability and BPharm courses of BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus. For all other BE specialisations, PCM is required. Aspirants must pass BITSAT for admission in BE and BPharm courses.
