The FMGE 2024 exam dates were changed by the authorities as per the notice released on April 4, 2024. Now the exam for the June session is tentatively to be conducted on July 6, 2024. Earlier the FMGE exam was slated to be conducted on June 30, 2024. 

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination or FMGE exam will be conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The FMGE June 2024 application process will tentatively begin in the third week of April 2024. The FMGE registration forms will be available online at the official portal, natboard.edu.in.

After the FMGE application process concludes, the FMGE application correction facility will be activated to enable candidates to make amends/corrections if any in the application form. NBEMS will release an official information brochure providing complete details about the June 2024 exam at the official website.

The medical screening test will be held in a computer-based format at the designated test centres. Candidates who successfully fill the applicantion form will be issued the FMGE admit card. The NBEMS will provide the facility to access the FMGE final opportunity window as well. The final edit window will help candidates upload the corrected images and relevant documents as per the suggestions of NBEMS.

The list of candidates along with their roll number will be shared on the official website. The FMGE 2024 result will be published online at the official admission portal. NBE will not send the result to any candidate at their postal address or email ID. The FMGE scorecards will also be provided to the candidates at a later date.

The last step of the entire admission process is to issue the FMGE pass certificates, which will be distributed by NBEMS at the physical location. Only those candidates who clear the exam will be issued their Pass Certificates at the NBEMS office. The pass certificates will be issued at the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) office at PSP Area, Sector-09, Dwarka, New Delhi. Candidates are advised to download the entry slip to seek entry to the office of NBEMS. In year 2023, out of the total 38,355 candidates who appeared for the exam, 30,046 failed and only 8309 could pass this exam. The passing percentage is around 23%, hence candidates are advised to know how to prepare for the FMGE exam to increase their chances of qualifying the exam.

Q:   What is FMGE 2024 date for June session?

A:

FMGE 2024 exam date was announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam will tentatively be conducted on July 6, 2024.

FMGE 2024 application forms will be released online. National Board of Examinations (NBE) will release an official information brochure comprising dates of other important events along with the crucial details. 

 

Q:   What is the FMGE exam?

A:
FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) is a licensing examination conducted by the NBE (National Board of Examinations). An Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) who has completed their primary medical qualification from an institution outside India, but wishes to practice in India needs to clear this examination to register with the NMC (National Medical Commission)/SMC (State Medical Council). However, as Foreign Medical Graduate Examination was introduced in the year 2002, students who had completed their primary degree course on or before March 15, 2002, are not required to appear for this examination. One must also note that Foreign Medical Graduate Examination is not an entrance test and cannot be used to take admission to any institute. FMGE is a licensing examination for foreign medical graduates. The exam is held twice a year, in June and December. If someone is not able to clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination exam in December, they can attempt it in the June session.
 

Q:   When will NBE distribute FMGE 2023 passing certificates?

A:

NBE will issue the FMGE December 2023 pass certificates from Feruary 20, 2024 to April 6, 2024. Candidates will have to collect the pass certificates in person from NBE's office. 

 

Q:   When will FMGE 2024 application form be released?

A:

FMGE 2024 application form is scheduled to be released in last week of April 2024 for the June session exam. Candidates will have to submit online application form for FMGE 2024 June session in online mode only. 

It is mandatory to submit application form for FMGE 2024 at the official portal only. Registration is mandatory to submit application form for FMGE exam. Candidates have to login to the official website and submit name, date of birth, nationality, mobile number, email ID for registration.

After registration, login ID and password is generated. Thereafter, candidates have to login and fill application form online. The application for FMGE gets submitted only after submission of application fee. NBE will open the application correction window after the registration window closes.

Q:   Can I appear for FMGE 2024 from any location?

A:

No. Candidates have to appear for the exam from the list of centre chosen by candidates while applying for the exam. The candidate will have to take the test on a pre-assigned computer at a designated FMGE 2024 test centre. A candidate can choose the option for test centre while filling details in the application form for FMGE exam. NBE will release the list of exam cities along with the official information brochure. FMGE 2024 Registration/Application Form

FMGE 2024 registration is the very first step for admission. Eligible candidates who wish to appear for the FMGE 2024 June session will have to get themselves enrolled on the official website of NBE. Upon completion of this process, candidates will be allowed to fill FMGE 2024 application form. After filling in all the details, candidates will have to pay the application fee. For the FMGE 2024 exam, candidates have to pay INR 7,080 as an application fee. NBE opens a correction window to modify details in the application form.

Q:   How do I register for FMGE 2024?

A:
Below are the simple steps to apply for the FMGE examination: Visit the official website of FMGE. Enter your basic details for registration, like name, email ID, and mobile number, and click submit button. A confirmation message about your credentials will be sent to the registered email ID. Further, click on the login option and enter your password and FMGE application number. To avoid errors, make sure you enter the correct information.
 

Q:   What is the application fee for FMGE 2024?

A:

The application fee for FMGE 2024 will be released along with the official information brochure. The FMGE 2024 application fee will be announced soon through the official notification. FMGE registration fee is INR 6,000 + 18 per cent GST. Candidates will have to pay the registration fee to submit the application form for FMGE 2024. It must be noted registration fee will be paid with online modes such as credit/debit card or internet banking etc. The registration fee is nonrefundable if your application is rejected due to any reason. Aspirants are advised to check the eligibility criteria carefully before applying online for FMGE 2024 exam for the June session.

 

FMGE 2024 Exam Pattern

FMGE 2024 June session will be conducted in online mode at designated centres decided by NBE. According to the FMGE 2024 exam pattern, the test paper will comprise two parts with 150 questions each. For solving each of these sections, candidates will be given 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is no provision for negative marking in the exam.

Q:   What is the exam pattern for the FMGE?

A:
FMGE exam pattern comprises mode and medium of the exam, total number of questions and their type, time allotted etc. The exam will be held in computer-based mode in English language only. The question paper will be divided in two parts, A & B. Total 300 multiple-choice questions will be asked and candidates will be provided 2 hours 30 minutes for each part. Candidates who score the minimum cut off will be declared qualified for the exam. The minimum qualifying marks is 50% of total, I. e 150 marks out of 300.
 

FMGE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for the FMGE 2024 June session are advised to check the below eligibility criteria before registering for the exam: 

Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian national or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

Qualification: The candidate should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned

Documents: Candidates have to submit proof of primary medical qualification. If someone fails to submit the required documents within the stipulated time, he will not be considered eligible for the FMGE exam.

Result of the final exam: The result of the final examination for primary medical qualification should have been declared on or before April 30, 2024.

Exemptions: Candidates who have completed their undergraduate medical qualification from the below-mentioned countries do not have to appear for FMGE for registration with MCI, provided they are eligible to enroll as medical practitioners in the respective country.

FMGE 2024: The Selection Process

As mentioned earlier, FMGE 2024 is a licensing examination. Qualifying for the examination would not mean that the candidate can seek admission into any educational institution. Qualifying for FMGE 2024 will enable candidates to register with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and work as registered medical practitioners in India. The FMGE 2024 Selection Process comprises steps including the application process, admit card, exam, result, and issuance of the pass certificates. Let's understand each process in detail.

FMGE 2024 Admit Card

Candidates who completed the FMGE application process in the given time frame, with complete documentation, were issued the FMGE 2024 admit card. This document is of vital importance as candidates are not allowed to take the test at the centre without the admit card. The admit card contains important details of candidates like name, date of birth, date of the exam, timing, address of the centre etc. The admit card can be downloaded by logging into the account. After downloading the admit card, candidates must cross-check it to ensure all details are correct. 

FMGE 2024: Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates have to carry the following on the day of the examination:

  • FMGE 2024 admit card
  • Valid, original and non-expired photo ID proof (PAN card/ Driving Licence/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card)
  • Candidates have to reach the examination centre on or before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card

  • Candidates have to undergo the security procedures at the exam centre which include frisking (using metal detectors) and biometric verification
  • Candidates who are not issued the admit card of FMGE 2024 will not be allowed to appear for the examination
  • Owing to the COVID-19 situation, the FMGE 2024 admit card will be barcoded
  • Finger biometrics will not be captured this year - instead Face ID verification will be carried out
  • Candidates will be allowed to carry the following items to the exam centre:
    • Face Mask
    • Gloves
    • Personal transparent water bottle (water dispenser will not be available, candidates will be provided bottled water)
    • Personal hand sanitiser in a transparent bottle (up to 50 ml)
    • Exam-related documents (Admit card, ID Card, etc.)
  • Friends/ relatives accompanying the candidate will not be allowed into the examination hall
  • Things that are banned inside the examination hall:

Possession/ Use of mobile phones/Electronic devices is strictly prohibited on the premises of NBEMS Test Centres. If found with the Possession/ Use of Mobile phones/ Electronic devices, the candidate shall be liable for penal action. FMGE 2024 Result

NBE has announced the FMGE 2024 result on its official website, nbe.edu.in. The FMGE result comprises candidates' roll number, marks obtained (out of 300) by them, and their qualifying status. Those who secure 50 percent out of the total marks of 300 are considered qualified for the exam and become eligible to get the provisional registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC). Only the qualified candidates will be able to download the scorecard through the user ID and password. 

FMGE Pass Certificates 

Candidates who qualify for the examination will be issued the Pass Certificates for FMGE 2024. These certificates have to be collected in person from the office of NBE. Upon presentation of this certificate at the MCI, they will be issued the registration certificates and will be eligible to practice in India. Candidates have to carry the original documents and visit personally to collect the certificate.

Q:   What is the result declaration date for FMGE 2024?

A:

FMGE June 2024 result will be declared online tentatively in July 2024. The result will be released online in PDF form. It must be noted the result of particular session will be valid for that session only. Candidates have to score the minimum cut off to qualify for the exam. The minimum cut off is 50% marks, i.e 150 out of 300. Qualified candidates will have to download the scorecard for FMGE 2024 from the official website on or after the specified date. NBE will issue a pass certificate to qualified candidates. The pass certificates can be colleceted from National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) office.

 

Q:   Can I pursue a master's degree from India if I don't clear FMGE?

A:
No, it is mandatory to clear FMGE if you have completed your undergraduate medical degree programme from outside India. However, candidates with an undergraduate medical degree from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United States of America or the United Kingdom, are exempted from FMGE. They need not to appear for FMGE exam for pursuing Masters in medical field. Candidates have to apply on the official website, NBE. Edu. In to register and submit application for the exam.

Q:   What is the FMGE passing rate of an MBBS student from Northern State Medical University?

A:

As per the NBE report on Institute wise performance in FMGE-2022, the FMGE passsing rate of MBBS students from Northern State Medical University is 24.06%. Of the 399 students who pursued MBBS from Northern State Medical University only 96 cleared FMGE test in 2022. The FMGE passing rate is expected to increase from 2024 as most of the students who will give the exam from 2024 will be those who had qualified NEET exam because qualifying NEET was made compulsory for MBBS abroad in 2018.
