Capilano University's main campus is located in North Vancouver, BC. A number of faculty members are located on this campus. It is surrounded by lush green bushes and features a calm environment. Q:   What are the English language requirements for admission at Capilano University?

A: 

All the courses and programs offered by Capilano University are taught in English. Capilano University requires international students to prove their proficiency in the English language. International students are required to fulfil some English language requirements to gain admission at Capilano University. Capilano University accepts all the major English language tests. The minimum requirements for the English language are as follows:

  • TOEFL = 83 overall
  • IELTS = 6.5 overall with no single score below 6.0
  • PTE = 56 overall

Q:   Can international students do part-time work while studying in Canada?

A: 

Yes, international students are allowed to do part-time work while studying in Canada. However, there is a cap on the number of hours a student can work per week. International students can work up to 20 hours per week, meanwhile, it is recommended to work only 15 hours a week to not affect your studies. You can work as a waiter or cashier in a restaurant or mart. You can even give private tuition in part-time work. The study visa for Canada allows international students to work while studying. This helps to reduce the financial burden and cover other expenses.

 

Q:   What is the Advanced Placement programme at Capilano University?

A: 

Applicants from the AP program must complete high school (or its equivalent) and meet the English language and program-specific requirements. Q:   How much does it cost to live on the campus of Capilano University?

A: 

Capilano University offers a wide range of accommodation and housing options to international students. The campus residence offers a fully furnished room, high-speed wireless internet, access to shared TV lounges, study rooms, free laundry, events, programming and support. The accommodation prices for the spring 2023 term are CAD 4,728 for a shared double room and CAD 5,501 for a single room. The accommodation prices for the summer full term are CAD 3,476 for a double room and CAD 4,265 for a single room.

 

Q:   Is on-campus housing available at Capilano University?

A: 

CapU offers affordable, supportive, and convenient university housing to full-time students. The CapU residences are a few minutes away from the main campus. The residence halls are named after the local mountains – Grouse Hall, Cypress Hall, and Seymour Hall – and include housing and amenities for 290 students. Each room (excluding apartment-style) includes the following:

  • Two twin size beds with drawer storage
  • Two twin size mattresses
  • Two desks with built-in shelving & lockable drawer
  • Two desk chairs
  • Two closets

Apart from this, two Bachelor apartments are available exclusively for students with the need for special accommodation. These apartments include a twin bed, a full private washroom, and a kitchenette.
