Students who do not meet the minimum requirement for English proficiency will be required to take NIC’s English 104 course.
Currently, NIC does not offer student accommodation on any of its campuses. Thus, international students need to arrange for accommodation before arriving in Canada. Students can either pick homestays/roomstays or go for the private rentals option. NIC recommends that students should make temporary arrangements to stay in a local motel for a week or two after they arrive.

International applicants can avail themselves of a number of scholarships such as the English Proficiency Award, University Pathway Entrance Scholarship, Language Pathway Student Awards, International Regional Award, and Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship.
English Proficiency Award: Applicants from any country can avail of this award. Students are automatically considered for this one-time scholarship which is applied to the student’s tuition and credited to the student account. Applicants who have the following scores are eligible for this award:
- Students with the overall IELTS 6.5/TOEFL iBT 80/ CAEL 60: CAD 500
- Students with the overall IELTS 7.0/TOEFL iBT 94/CAEL 67: CAD 1,000
- Students with the overall IELTS 7.5/TOEFL iBT 102/CAEL 74 or above: CAD 1,500
- Students with the overall Duolingo English Test 120 or higher: CAD 1,000
University Pathway Entrance Scholarship: An amount of CAD 2,000 is credited to the student account that covers the tuition fee. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement. Selected students are informed one month before the start of the program.
Language Pathway Student Awards: Applicants from NIC’s Language Pathway can apply for this award. Each intake, three students are selected for this award and an amount of CAD 1,000 is conferred on each of them. An essay is required for this award’s application process.
International Regional Award: This entrance award is for applicants from regions where NIC actively and selectively recruits new students. All applicants are automatically reviewed for this award.
Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship: Partner schools in ELAP-designated countries can nominate students for this scholarship. Thus, Indian students may not be eligible for this scholarship.
