About Royal Roads University
Founded in 1995, Royal Roads University is a public institution of research-centric higher education in Colwood City British Columbia, Canada. The institution operates on the grounds of the former institution named Royal Roads Military College which functioned until 1995 when it was granted university status and professional degree-granting powers. Royal Roads University History
The main university building of Royal Roads called as Hatley Castle was completed in the year 1908 and was also purchased by the federal government in 1940 to be used as the King's Royal palace. The institute had gone thorugh many multiple name changes before it eventually became Royal Roads Military College in 1968. The university had been granted full status by the year 1975.
Later in the year 1995, Hatley Park and former Royal Roads Military College had been declared as a National Historic Site of Canada. Royal Roads University had become a public-degree granting university in June 1995.
