It is worth coming here; UBC is a brand.
Tips: It's a huge cultural difference when it comes to being independent, for younger people, this might look tempting but you have to do each and every thing by yourself from cooking, cleaning, groceries, etc. MASc and PhD students can get research assistance money but MEng students do not get this; they can hold a teaching assistant role and can work on campus. I am more than just satisfied with my programme and university, considering where I am within 6 months of graduation.
Likes (Safety): It's a super safe city if you compare it to India; you can step outside anytime and feel safe. Be aware of drug addicts, specifically in the downtown area, do not mess with them. 911 is super responsive; they come within 3-5 min and help a lot. There is also the RCMP to resolve domestic issues.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Currently immigration situation is awful; if you wanna come to Canada, come to study, not for getting PR. If you think you want just PR, it's the worst time to come. Even PGWP processing time is a year, you can not leave country even in case or emergency. Just imagine; so take a wise decision.

Had a good time living here.
Tips: Studying here so far has been a good academic experience. You will be expected to do prep work and go through the presentations before classes and sincerity is a necessity here. Professors are helpful and my peers have mostly been friendly and happy to help out whenever needed. The city is both scenic and historic so it's fun to explore.
